Lofts or Mezzanine are an important part in most households. In a flat where the crunch for space is easily felt it is always necessary to have a spacious lofts to keep the unused commodities. For these structures the Indian Vastu Shastra has laid down certain rules. While constructing or while keeping the commodities these tips must be kept in mind.
Use of the mezzanine floor is popularly done in store rooms, play rooms and computer rooms. The mezzanine or the loft should be in the South or West. Never built them in the East or North. As far as the store room is considered the mezzanine or loft should be in the West or South West direction. The computer room can have the mezzanine in the South -South East, the West or the West - North - West.
The mezzanine for the play room is useful if it is constructed in the South - South-East or the West - North-West. The space which remains over the toilet or bathroom is sometimes used for the construction of lofts. However if it is situated here it will be placed in the middle of the flat and this place is the Brahmasthan. It is compulsory to avoid any construction here. As per rules of the Vastu Shastra there should not be a toilet or bathroom in Brahma's place. similarly the mezzanine or loft should not be over the adjoining place or the main entrance door. Never have the mezzanine or loft in the North-North East corner of the flat as well.
