Excessive speaking or shouting, smoking or an invasion by disease-causing micro-organisms may cause a swelling of the larynx, termed laryngitis. Symptoms of laryngitis include hoarseness or loss of voice, pain in the throat especially while speaking or swallowing and sometimes fever. All are the symptoms of this disease.

Treatment
There are various treatments for the disease of hoarseness. But the symptoms should be checked before giving the medicine to the concerned patient.

Aconite 30: Some of the symptoms that require this medicine can be mentioned as sudden or acute attack of laryngitis following exposure to cold air, causing loss of voice, fever and dry, hard suffocating cough. Some other symptoms can be mentioned as great restlessness; anxiety and fear, unquenchable thirst for large quantities of cold water, and also desire to be in open air.

Belladonna 30: Sudden or violent attack of laryngitis due to exposure to cold, a painful, constricted sensation in the throat is the common symptoms for using this medicine. Voice becomes husky and hoarse with barking cough that ends in sneezing, very often aversion to all drinks is also a common symptom.

Drosera 30: The medicine named Drosera 30 is very much useful for the symptoms like Laryngitis from overuse of voice, deep hoarse voice with a sensation of feather in the larynx, attacks of cough follow each other so rapidly that the person can scarcely breathe, hoarseness and cough are worse from hot water gargles.

Hepar sulph 30: Loss or hoarseness of voice from exposure to dry, cold wind, chronic laryngitis, sensation of a splinter in the throat, deep, barking, choking cough which is excited from least uncovering of the body, hoarseness is worse from cold air or drinks but improves from hot-water gargling. For these symptoms Hepar sulph 30 will be useful.

Phosphorus 30: This particular medicine is useful when the symptoms vary as follows. Laryngitis from overuse of voice causing hoarseness of voice, dry cough and burning pain in the throat when talking or laughing, hoarseness and pain diminish by consuming cold water or food. All of the above symptoms are very common for using this medicine.

Spongia 30: A feeling of dryness, burning and constriction in the larynx, hoarseness of voice that improves from warm foods or drinks or hot water gargling. In all these symptoms Spongia 30 works and helps a lot.
