Kendrapara District, OdishaKendrapara District in Odisha is a newly formed district. The name of the Kendrapara district is quite significant in the Indian subcontinent. Kendrapara District is one of the administrative districts of Odisha and it was formed on 1st of April, 1993. Four other districts of the Odisha surround Kendrapara District and a part is bounded by Bay of Bengal. The District is situated in the north of Jagatsinghpur district, west of Cuttack District, southwest of Jajpur District and south of Bhadrak District. Bay of Bengal lies in the eastern part of the district. The coastline covers 48 km stretching from Dhamra Muhan to Batighar. Kendrapara district headquarters is 85 km from Bhubaneshwar.

Kendrapara District lies in between 20 degree 20 minutes to 20 degree 37 minutes north latitude and 86 degree 14 minutes east to 87 degree 1 minute east longitude and situated in central coastal plain zone as per the agro climatic classification of Odisha .

There are several tourist places in Kendrapara District. Batighar is the first lighthouse installed in eastern coast of India. Kendrapara District is surrounded with pleasant natural beauty. In front of the Batighar, False Point Port was the first modern port of Odisha coastline. This port was commissioned in the year 1855. Kanika Palace is one of the most popular tourist places in Kendrapara District. It is situated in Rajkanika block and around 50 kms from Kendrapara. The beauty of the palace is unbelievable. Aul Palace is another tourist site and it is an ancient palace spread over 40 acres of land. Other structures like Rajbati, Ranimahal, Ghodashala, Bhandar, Udyan, Pramoda Udyan, Debalaya, Devi mandir are included in the palace. Dhamara Port is an ancient port on the bank of river Baitarani, around 5 kms from Kanika Palace. Kudanagari is an ancient centre of maritime business, which is situated in Patkura constituency. A massive sand dune sprawling over 15 acres of land and of a height 25 feet, surrounded by deep forest is a popular pilgrim centre. All the places of interest of Kendrapara District are worth visiting. Other tourist spots in Kendrapara District are Baladevjew Temple, Kendrapara Town, Lachhamanjew Temple, in Balipatna, 4 km distance from town, Lakhmi Varaha Temple, Near Aul, a 40 km distance from Kendrapara Town, Bhitarkanika Mangrove Forest, Bhitarkanika National Park, Gahirmatha Marine Wild life Sanctuary, Kudanagari Suka Parikshita Ashrama, Maa Dakshina Kali Temple and Derabish Palace.
