Tanglang La Pass is a high mountain pass in the Zanskar range at Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir. It is considered to be the world’s 12th highest motorable passes. Sarchu and Upshi are two settlements on the pass. Besides the pristine beauty, the pass also provides for an adventurous streak at its numerous rough and sharp terrains. There is a holy temple on top of the pass. Taglang La Pass is said to be the residence of Changpa herdsman who are primarily cattle and goat herders.
Location of Tanglang La Pass
Tanglang La Pass is located on the National Highway 21 connecting Leh to Manali. It is at the height of 5328 meters above the sea level which is 17,480 feet. Characterized by such an altitude, Tanglang La pass is like the ‘Gateway to Leh’.
Route of Tanglang La Pass
The Leh-Manali highway leading south from Upshi to Tanglang La Pass is paved. On ascending the pass from Moore plains, the road is well paved too with occasional streams crossing. As one drives through this high motorable pass, scenic views on both sides are likely to make the journey wonderful.
