There was a village named Champapuri in the Jambudweep in India. A man named Ashokchand lived in this beautiful village. He resorted to many evil means and caused pain to others. Due to his sins he was punished and inflicted with pain and body ailments. He left his home and wandered from place to place in search of help and shelter. After many days Ashokchand finally met a sage. He approached the sage and related his problems to him. With folded hands he asked for forgiveness from the sanyasin. The sage told him that it is because of his sins of his past and present life that he has to face such problems and go through pains and tortures. Thus to get rid of these he must start worshipping and praying to Lord Neminath or Raivatgiri.
Ashokchand thus began his pilgrimage tour to Raivatgiri and began his meditation there. Impressed with his devotion Goddess Ambika approached in front of him. He was blessed with immense wealth and with the help of a strong army he also won a dynasty. With time he became so immersed in his enjoyment and pleasures that he began neglecting and praying to the Lord. Upon realising his mistakes he left everything and set out for his pilgrimage again. He gave his dynasty to his son and submerged himself in the worship of the Lord. Later with the blessings of the deity Ambika he attained Moksha.
