Parshuram Mahadev Fair: On the Shravan Shukla Sastami and Saptami( 6th and 7th ) a large fair is organised at Parshuram Mahadev temple which is situated in Desuri area on the top of one of many hills of the Aravalli mountain ranges. More then two lakh devotees attend and participate in this fair. Peer Dulheshah Fair: This Fair is organised at Chotila near Kerla railway station on Jodhpur-Pali rail route by. It is organised by the Muslims in the Mazaar of Hajrat Peer Dulheshah. It is held on the day following Diwali, and is attended by many devotees from nearby districts. Sheetala Mata Fair: Sheetala Mata fairs are organised at Pali, Sojat, Jawali and a number of other villages of the Pali district on Sheetala Sapatami. A large number of families attend these fairs and worship goddess Sheetala Mata on this occasion. Badshah Ki Sawari: On the following Holi, people from all over the state come to Pali district to attend the Badshah Ki Sawari. It is a much revered and celebrated affair, which attracts people irrespective of their religious beliefs. Shivaratri Fair: On the eve of Shivaratri, fairs are organised at Parashram Mahadev, Somnath Temple Pali, Nimbo Ka Nath (in the foothills of the Aravali) Phalana and Jawali. Although Shivaratri fairs are organised in almost all villages of Pali district, at Parshuram Mahadev and Nimbo Ka Nath the size and magnitude of these fairs is quite large. Nimbo Ka Nath Fair: On the Eve of Shivaratri and Baisakhi Purnima, fairs are organised at Nimbo ka Nath temple situated between Falna and Sanderav. These fairs are witnessed by more then 50,000 people Varkana Fair: Varkana is a famous Jain Teerth near Rani. A huge fair is organised by followers of Jainism here every year on Pooshe Shukla Dashami (10th). This fair is attended by people from distant places in Rajasthan and Gujarat. Baba Ramdev Fair: In the Raipur tehsil at village Birathiya Khurd, the Baba Ramdev fair is organised every year on the Bhadva Shukla Ekadashi (11th) for two days. There is a huge five story temple of Baba Ramdev. Almost one lakh devotees offer their prayers during this period. Lakkhi Mela- Sonara Khetalagi: At the commencement of the big moon of Chetra, a fair is organised in the basin of the local river Sarangawas at Sonara Khetalaji temple of Desuri tehsil. This fair represents the folk culture of not only Pali district but also of various districts of western Rajasthan. Since this is organised the after Holi festival, a large number of Holi dancers attend this fair in conventional and fancy dresses. More then one lakh devotees participate in this fair. Gangaur Fair: In the Goria village of Bali Tehsil a tribal fair is organised on Baisakhi Shukla Saptami (7th), on the eve of Gangaur. This fair is attended by almost 3000 tribals. These are therefore the various fairs held and celebrated in the district of Pali. |
