Shoma Anand is a brilliant Indian actress who has proved her mettle as an actress both on the silver screen and small screen. She has been a part of the film and television industry since the year 1976 and still continues to reign the hearts of her huge fan following.

She made her debut in film industry by acting in the Bollywood movie `Barood` that time she acted just for fun and as the film starred the Bollywood heartthrob of the yesteryears Rishi Kapoor. She has enacted in supporting roles quite frequently in the following years. Throughout the whole 1980s and 1990s she had had done cameos in many movies. She also has played the role of a heroine in some movies like `Jagir` and `Coolie` in the era of 1980. From the late 90s to the present times she has mostly appeared in minor roles as a doctor, wife or sister in popular Bollywood actress like `Hungama`, `Kyaa Kool Hain Hum` and `Kal ho Na Ho`. Recently again she got the chance to work with his favorite co-star Rishi Kapoor in the movie titled `Love Ke Chakkar Main`.

After her marriage in the year 1987 she took a break from the industry as her husband was not supportive of her career. However when her husband the producer-director Tariq Shah was making a film with Jeetendra and Vinod Khanna, it was then she accepted the offer of Jeetendra to act in the blockbuster show `Hum Paanch`.

Shoma Anand has also carved out a niche for herself in the hearts of the audiences of the small screen. She has played the mother`s role of the male protagonist of the Star Plus afternoon daily `Bhabhi`. In another popular soap `Hum Paanch` she had appeared in a meaty role. This soap also made her create waves in the hearts of the small screen viewers. She has proved excellence not in serious soaps but also in out and out comedies. in `Shanno Ki Shaadi` her comic portrayal ticked the funny bones of the audiences. She holds a very high regard for the film industry and has been very satisfied working here. She boldly states that in her times the casting couch syndrome was not there and she had never faced any indecent proposals from lecherous filmmakers.

The very talented Shoma Anand is basically from Amritsar, which is situated in the India state of Punjab. Her dad shifted to Mumbai in the year 1968. Those days she used to visit a friend whose house was located near the music director Shambhu Sen`s residence. He used to give dance lessons and she also started taking lessons from him. In fact she was more into dance than acting.

Acting just happened to her after the release of the movie `Barood`. She claims that it is the critics who made her take her acting seriously as a profession. This extremely talented actress loves to do television more than films but in films she hardly gets the roles she wants to play.

In television however the scenario is always different as she is always seen portraying good characters. She also had a very enriching experience getting the chance to work with the Marathi legend Ashok Saraf. In future she has aims of directing serials as well as movies. In her spare time this talented lady likes to spend time with her daughter and also loves to hear Ghazals, classical music, watch movies and do a lot of shopping. Her fans hope that she continues delighting the audience with her powerhouse performances in the impending times.
