The extremely talented actor Shekhar Suman always prefers to be himself when it comes to acting. He was born to a surgeon father in Bihar and grew up as the only son in the household of three sisters to be a spoilt brat. His mother and sisters loved him too much and he always had a great time lazing around the whole day. But destiny had something else in store for him. He claims that comedy is his forte and that he gains extreme pleasure by making people laugh.

Despite acting in over 30 films with almost all the top-class heroines of his times including Padmini Kolhapure, Sudha Chandran, Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla his career graph remained static. He got married at the tender age of 21 and became a father at the age of 22. Shouldering the responsibilities of the whole family became quite tough for this young actor at that time as two years later he was labeled as a flop hero. Still then he did not accept ridiculous roles just for the sake of keeping himself going. To him his profession was similar to that of worship and he could not bear the idea of playing with it. Further disaster struck when his elder son Aayush developed endocardio- myofibrosis, which affects the heart`s ability to pump blood and after sometime he passed away. Somehow they managed to live their lives by his wife dress designing business.

It was with Jaya Bachhan`s sitcom `Dekh Bhai Dekh` that Shekhar Suman catapulted to fame. This soap exploited his flair for the comic and made him immensely popular. Then his character portrayal of an intrepid journalist in Vinod Pandey`s `Reporter` propelled him to stardom. He reached the summit of his career in the year 1998 when Shekhar was branded as Mr. Television and he was in seven serials in a single day. He believes that the turning point of his career came with `Dekh Bhai Dekh` and he began to get noticed as a man who could make one laugh and hold the audience unlike his days of cinema where the public refused to accept him as a big screen hero.

He also claims that he is his original version of `Movers and Shakers`. He at times is extremely bombastic and he knows his worth. His production unit members` remarks that he is quite a difficult actor to work with because he wants everything meted out to perfection. He is also mobbed by fans wherever he goes in India and internationally. For sometime he also worked with theater personality Om Kature who runs the Yatri Theater Group to set up a theater academy `Silhoutte` and enact at least two plays per year and also new talent for theater. He was seen as the judge of the great comedy show, `The Great Indian Laughter Challenge`.

Today the stature of Shekhar Suman has risen to the stature of celebrity. He has also set up his own movie production house Daffodils and Dreams and his projects are all under with various renowned filmmakers. His other production house Seven Thirty Ltd. Is also doing very well with other business channels where he is producing some television programmes. He has been a master of all games including acting, anchoring, hosting as well as singing. He has just completed his music album for T-Series, `Kuch Khwab Aise`. He believes that music mirrors the taste of one`s life.

For the past few years he wanted to launch his own music album. He went for singing and launching his own album because he believes music has its soul and one can actually feel upon hearing it. He is often regarded as the `kaleidescope of confusion` but he manages to brush off all this criticism and go on establishing his footage in the industry. He has released that name and fame are momentary in this world and that one does not take them along when he passes away. He wants his fans to fondly remember him because of his achievements even after his death. His fans also expect him to stand up to their expectations and continue rocking the screen with his electrifying performances.
