| Shabbir Ahluwalia aka Rishi
| |
| The extremely fashionable and exceptionally gifted actor Shabbir Ahluwalia catapulted to fame with the character portrayal of Rishi in Balaji romantic saga `Kahiin To Hoga`. Rishi almost became a household name and almost all the brothers wanted to be like him. He ruled the hearts of millions of girls as the TRPs of the channel rose to soaring heights with the presence of this style icon of the small screen. He was also adjudged the `Style Icon of the Year` at the Indian Telly awards in the year 2005.
This aspiring sportsman decided to try his luck in acting and destiny made him one of the best-loved guys of Indian Television. Known as one of Ekta`s nlue-eyed boy he has managed to bag plum roles in many Balaji projects like `Kkavyanjali`, `Kyunki Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi` `Kasauti Zindagi Kay` and the recently launched `Kayamath`. He also made a special appearance in another popular Balaji soap `Kasamh Se`. He was also seen hosting the first session of the celebrity dance show `Nach Baliye` along with the drop-dead gorgeous Sangeeta Ghosh.
It is hard to believe that Shabbir Ahluwalia pulls off each role with equal style, ease and charm despite having no formal training in acting. He has also made his mark in the Indian film industry by the recent Bollwyood chartbuster `Shootout At Lokhandwala` along with Bollywood biggies Sanjay Dutt, Vivek Oberoi, Tushar Kapoor and Rohit Roy. He is also talking to a filmmaker who wants him to play the lead of a very crazy character. He hopes that it works out soon so that he can go ahead and adjust with his other dates.
Even if he gets a plum offer in Bollywood he will continue to go on with the television because it has given him the popularity and recognition that he desired. He claims that the character of Rishi was a part of the role that was meted to him. In another popular Balaji soap `Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki` he plays the character of Soumil who is diametrically opposite to Rishi. He is very nice, sophisticated, enterprising guy who has got very good values and is an excellent businessman and a character with whom every daughter would desire his daughter to get married to. He remarked that he could relate partly with both of the characters. He claims that he is no as good as Soumil and even not as flirtatious as Rishi.
Shabbir Ahluwalia is a hard-core Mumbaite and has a huge fan following. If not an actor he would have been a sportsman. He has played soccer for Bombay University and also played baseball at the national level. At present he laments that he does not have any time for sports. If he does not have a very late night shoot his day starts with a game of squash or badminton followed by a swim.
Being the youngest sibling of ex-army personnel he has been brought up in a very disciplined manner as a result of which he is a very shy and reticent guy. He is not at all into bike, girlfriends and parties. He rather likes to spend his free time by watching television or catching up on some film or DVD.. He strongly believes in the institution of marriage and will definitely fall in love only when he has marriage in mind.
He abhors the casual attitude of the youngsters who changes partners with every season. He says that playing the negative roles also he is enjoying every bit of incentive he gets in the form of popularity. He has been getting loads of offer after `Kahiin To Hoga` but nothing has excited him. He is open to anything, which gives him a kick and challenges him. For his relaxed sense of dressing he is so popular on-screen. He manages to carry off anything with equal ease and comfort.. This talented persona is very much loved by his fans and is expected to scale great heights of success in the years to come.
