Doiwala is located in the Dehradun district of in the northern state of India, Uttarakhand. Dehradun is located 30 km. south of Doiwala. Doiwala Railway Station on the Dehradun - Motichur rail route is the nearest railway station and Jolly Grant airport is the nearest airport.

According to the 2001 census report, Doiwala had a small population of 8047 inhabitants. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46% of the population. In Doiwala, 11 % of the population is less than six years of age. Doiwala has an average literacy rate of 76%, which is higher than the national average literacy rate of 59.5%. The male literacy rate is 82% and, the female literacy rate is 70%.

The nearest attractions include the Rajaji National Park and Motichur Wildlife Sanctuary and the numerous shrines at Rishikesh.
