The popular Indian actor Bobby Darling is regarded as the first gay who has done the maximum number of gay roles in both
Bollywood films and television. His real name is Pankaj Sharma and he was born in
Delhi. He hails from a family of three children and is the son of an English Professor who is also a bank manager by profession.
In his young age he always played with girls and wanted to become a woman. When he was in the eighth standard he started using all the attires and cosmetics of his mother. He was taken to a sexologist, psychiatrist and to the temple to cure him off this difference in behavior. His father used to beat him up. But nothing much worked out. When he was in the 12th standard he fell in love with one of his classmate.
He could not summon enough courage to bunk his board exams so he eloped with his so-called boyfriend. Together they traveled to the Far East and Europe and managed to make a living by doing odd jobs. But then he received a call from his father who explained him that his mother is suffering from a kidney problem and is in her last stage. After his mother dies his dad disowned him from the property and threw him out of the house. In the mean time his boy friend also gave him a huge shock by marrying off a girl and he came to know that he was a bi-sexual.

Bobby Darling then flew down to
Mumbai, as he wanted to prove the guy that he can become something in life without him. He wanted him to regret in life as he had ditched him. Soon after landing in Mumbai he started going to the producers` offices. It was because of the renowned filmmaker that the ball started rolling for him. He gave him his first role in the Bollywood chartbuster `
Taal`. After that offers came pouring down on him. He acted in N.Chandra`s `Style`, `Na Tum Jano Na Hum` and Sohail Khan`s home-production `Maine Dil Tujhko Diya`. He also appeared in Shah Rukh Khan`s home-production `Chalte Chalte` and then Akbar Khan signed him for a beautiful role in his venture titled `Taj Mahal`. He also had meaty roles in another two Bollywood flicks called `Fun2shh` and Aruna Raje directed `Tum`.
Then he also acted in a film called `Shadow` in which he plays a double role, one of a normal guy and the other of a gay. This film is yet to see the light of the day. It is unbelievable that he has got an entry into the `Limca Book of Records` for doing 18 roles as a gay at the age of just 23. He is also being considered for the Guinness World Book of Records. He claims that the medium of television also gave him some very good breaks. He did `Kitne Cool Hain Hum`, `
Kyunki Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu thi` and `Kahiin Kissi Roz` under Balaji Productions.
He also did Dipti Bhatnagar Productions `Kabhie aaye Na Judaai`. He also performed in a music video by DJ Aqeel called `Arre Deewano` along with another Bollywood star
Jackie Shroff. He also asserts that some personalities in the film and television industry have treated him very well. He also had some difficult moments as well. He also refused to act in the popular serial `Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin` because they were offering him fluff while he wanted meat. He wishes that there are more people like Imtiaz Punjabi and Aruna Raje in this industry who have treated him extremely well unlike other who always look upon him as disgust.
Bobby Darling claims that the worst part of his life was when he was thrown out of his house and his untapped creative instincts were giving him heartache. In order to fill his stomach he even had to dress up as a girl and dance in the dance bars. It was then that he used to use his weakness as his strength and today he has achieved what many actors cant even after struggling for a score of years. If he does not settle down for proper male roles then this actor would like to go for sex-change operation. He claims that he still has a long way to go and would like to achieve a lot in life. His fans wish him all the best for his future endeavors.
