Sharad Malhotra is believed to be a very promising up comer in the television industry and has already carved out a niche for himself in the hearts of his fans in the daily `Dulhaan banoo Mein Teri`, which is aired on Zee Television every evening.

He is born and brought up in Kolkata. His father is an architect and his mother is a homemaker. His sister Reema Pawa is married and is a well-known designer in Kolkata. He was the Face of the Year in the year 2001. He has also undergone training from the Kala Manthan Academy under Nishi Arora and Samrat Mukherjee. He was also trained under the Kishore Namit Kapoor acting academy in Mumbai. His boyish charm has added to his fame and popularity and recently he has acquired the image of a `chocolate-boy` hero among his female fan following.

This gifted actor was the zonal winner of `Zee Cinestar Ki Khoj` in the year 2004. He also modelled for commercials named Exide Battery, Standard Chartard, ICICI and ARY Alluka Gold Realiance. He has come a long way from there. His performance is already compared to that of the performance of another very popular actor Varun Badola in `Koshish Ek Asha`. But he feels at this stage he is too small an actor to be compared to the great of such an actor like Varun Badola. He likes to take it as a compliment and also gushes on the fact that during his auditions in Kolkata Varun Badola was the anchor.

Sharad Malhotra also stated in a recent interview that he has done a lot of homework before taking up the role of Sagar in `Dulhaan`. Before the show rolled on he spent some time with his building kids and have also visited a nursery just for a day. He has observed children very carefully and has also got hold of some kid flicks like `Koi Mil Gaya, `Main Aisa Hi hoon` and `Honey I Shrunk The Kids`. He is also greatful to his producers Shyam Bhattacharya and Neelima and Bajpai. They also suggested him to join the acting workshop of Jaydev Hathagdi. After that his business manager Raj Israni and his wife Anita Israni also encouraged him a lot to deliver his best. He is indebted to all these people for his marvellous performances. He claims that he has received an amazing response from the kids for his role in this soap.

Whenever any kids visit his shooting sets they approach him for a handshake and always mistake him as an 8 year old even in his real life. He is also very happy about the work atmosphere and his co-stars. Initially they were all a bit aloof and quiet but now they are like a family to each other. With his on-screen spouse Divya also he is very comfortable and always prefer working on their respected scenes, the result of which gets reflected on screen.

He is also happy about the fact that his show is not the typical `saans-bahu` flicks. He also auditioned for a role in `Kyunki` and `Kasturi` and also got short-listed. Due to his commitment to the present assignment he could not devote enough time to those two serials and had to back out. He hopes to work with the soap queen Ekta Kapoor if given an opportunity. Films is definitely the ultimately goal for the budding actor and he is utilizing this time to learn a lot in terms of acting. This promising actor is sure to give a lot of performances in the approaching years and his fans always wish the best for him.
