Renuka Shahane
The appeal of the girl next door and her million-dollar smile has made the veteran actress a very favorite.

Renuka Shahane is a very talented actress who has wooed the audiences of both the small screen as well as the silver screen with her girl-next-door appeal and marvelous acts on screen. She has gained equal name and fame in both Indian television as well as the Bollywood film industry. She hailed from a typical middle class family with a host of journalists in the family.

Acting happened to her by sheer chance and coincidence. She blossomed into the limelight from `Surabhi`, `Imtihaan` and `Kora Kagaaz`. She has completed her education from the St.Xaviers College and then completed her M.A. in Clinical Psychology. She also shone in the field of arts and crafts and was an active participant in Malhar. She was never over ambitious and is very happy and contented with both her personal and professional life.

Renuka ShahaneAbout opting for a career in acting Renuka Sahane claims that she was at the right place at the right time. She attended the screen test, which was going on for a drama titles `PC Aur Massi` directed by Siddharth Kak, the assistant of which was a friend of her brother. She got selected in that screen test and that was her first brush with acting. She started her television career with `Surabhi`, which was aired, on DD1 at that point of time. Soon after she managed to bag roles in `Junoon`, `9 Malabar Hills`, `Sailabh`, `Kora Kagaaz` and `Tejaswini`. She shot to fame with the success of `Surabhi` and `Close-Up Antakshari`. She was very happy working in the former one as it showcased the culture and art from the various parts of the Indian subcontinent. She claims that her character in the serial `Imtihaan` was the best ever role that she has ever portrayed.

She also made a great mark in the Bollywood film industry with her widely acclaimed role in the Bollywood chartbuster `Hum Aapke Hain Kaun`. In future she also wants to portray negative roles with purpose. She is also actively involved in Marathi plays and theater. She is one of those actress who does not want to pursue her career in acting just because for the sake of being a big shot in the glamour world. Instead she aims to pursue the profession to add a new dimension to the art of acting. She took a much-needed gap from her acting career after the birth of her children; recently she has made a comeback to the television circuit with the new show `Jeete Hain Jiske Liye`, which is essentially a matured love story.

In this serial she plays the lead and also claims that it is not a typical saga with a dragging script. In this soap she is working with some great soap stars like Anup Soni and Manini Mishra.

Renuka ShahaneIn her personal life also Renuka Shahane is a very happy and contented individual. She tied the knot with another extremely talented actor Ashutosh Rana after the break up of her first marriage. In Ashutosh she found a perfect partner who knows the kind of industry and the erratic hours kept by the actors. She is extremely happy about the fact that her husband is very caring and understanding, which is so required in the institution of marriage. She is very laidback in her life now and has devoted much time in the upbringing of her kids Shauryamaan and Satyendra. Now that she is very happy with her life she wants to put in her whole concentration on writing. She has already written a feature film related to a human issue.

She is also interested in reading and writing black comedy. She has also started writing a column for Sunday Mid-day in `flying solo`. The lists of directors whom she counts as her favorite are Siddharth Sengupta, Sanjay Uppadhaya and Lekh Tandon. In future she wants to be behind the scenes engaged in the ventures of production and direction. Her fans also expect that she will live up to their expectations in the coming times by delivering some great performances and fulfill her long cherished dreams.
