Rati Agnihotri
Rati Agnihotri is a veteran Indian actress who has carved out a niche for herself in the hearts of her audiences

Rati AgnihotriRati Agnihotri is a very talented actress who has carved out a niche for herself in the hearts of her sincere fan following by her powerhouse performance in the Bollywood chartbuster `Ek Duje Ke Liye`. She was in fact the ultimate Indian symbol of the `sweet sixteen` romance when she has hit the silver screen at the tender age of sixteen.

This extremely talented actress was born on 10th December in the year 1960 and hails from a Punjabi family settled in Mumbai. She belongs to a very traditional family but still then she was allowed to model at the tender age of 10. When she passing the phase of her teenage her father relocated to the capital city of Tamil Nadu for his job. There she got enrolled in the Good Shepherd`s Convent School and participated in the school play. There the famous Tamil film`s director Bharathiraja spotted her. As he was already looking for a fresh face to star in his new film, he convinced her father to let her star in the film and also promised that the film would wrap up in one month. After much persuasion her father agreed at last. At the age of 16 only she made her appearance in the Tamil film `Pudhiya Varpukal` in the year 1979 and the film topped the charts for a long span making Rati Agnihotri an overnight sensation.

Soon after she also starred in Bharathiraja`s second film `Niram Marada Pukkal` in the same year. Though she was a Punjabi the South Indian audience with much warmth and affection gladly accepted her. Following that she worked with almost all the superstars of the South Indian film industry. In the year she also appeared in the Tamil blockbuster `Marocharithra`. She also starred in the Hindi remake of the same film `Ek Dujhe Ke Liye`.

This film went to capture the emotions of the whole nation. Other major hits of Rati Agnihotri include `Shaukeen`, `Coolie`, `Farz Aur Kanoon`, `Hukumat` and `Tawaif`. She starred in less that 50 Hindi films but she has worked with almost all the top filmmakers of Rati Agnihotri in Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethithe Indian subcontinent including B.R.Chopra, Yash Chopra, Manmohan desai, Shakti Samanta, Dev Anand, Nasir Hussain, Basu Chatterjee and Ravi Tandon. In her personal life she is also very happy and contented. She tied the knot with her real life love Anil Virwani who is an architect and businessman in the year 1985 and decided to quit the world of films at the time when she was at the peak of her career. Today she is the proud mother of her only son Tanuj. To sum up she is a very lively soul and is a very committed person, which shows both in her professional life and personal life. After a break of 15 years she was again successfully convinced by director Rahul Rawail to return to the silver screen and she teamed with Rishi Kapoor to play the mother of twin daughters (played by Kajol) in the film `Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi` which was remake of the film `The Parent Trap`.

Forever young and beautiful Rati Agnihotri is a delightful and articulate conversationalist. Even today she knows how to strike a balance between her home, her family and her profession. As she always enjoyed her career in films she decided to make a comeback after such a long span and also wants to continue if she gets few intense but major character portrayals. This gifted actress like to take her life as it comes and is optimistic that she will be able to entertain her fans in the years to come. Her fans also wish the same for her.
