Mohammad Azharuddin`s batting beauty was augmented with his competent captaincy.

Muhammad Azharuddin, born on February 8, 1963, in Hyderabad , of Andhra Pradesh , was a right-hand batsman and a right-arm medium pace bowler. Azhar`s on -side batting had an aesthetic appeal, akin to the fascinating batting-art of Zaheer Abbas.

However, later in his career, Mohammad Azharuddin primarily resorted to the off-side strokes, which yielded a wonder like the 121 of 1990`s at the Lord`s .

This batting-commander of Indian cricket spent his early life, childhood, and the initial phases of his youth in Hyderabad. He studied in a Catholic boys` school, called the All Saints High School.

Mohammad AzharuddinIt is quite interesting to note that the other famous cricketers from Hyderabad, namely, Arshad Ayub, Venkatpathy Raju, Noel David , happened to be the student`s of the same school.

The 1990s was the purple patch of the talented Azharuddin. Also lovingly called Azhar, Azharuddin is reckoned as one of the most accomplished captain. The amazing Azhar has rested on the laurels of the victory in 14 Test Matches. He too luxuriates in the record of a 103 ODIs , during his office of captaincy of the Indian Team.

The fabulous flexibilty of his batting technique, as per as that of the English example, David Gower, a contemporary. Azhar`s hallmark was his wrist-flick , warding off the skilled spinners, with the best of abilities.

His Test debut was in the India Vs England, at Kolkata, held from December 1984 - January 5, 1985. He boasts off the 110 in the very first innings of his Test debut . In the first three Tests , he had scored 3 successive hundreds. He unfotunately was renderd out for a lbw for 199 in a test match against Sri Lanka . This was the topmost achievement in his Test career.

Mohammad AzharuddinThroughout his Test career, he had accumulated 6215 runs, at a high average of 45.03 . Muhammad Azharuddin had bagged 22 centuries on the whole ,in Test career. Proving his capabilities in the first appearances, had become a habit of Azharuddin by then. In the way of One-Day International debut, on January 20, 1985, at Bangalore, he landed up with an almost glorious half-century, 47 runs not out in the match between India Vs England.

Statistics, exhibit, that on the whole, his ODI Aggregate is very near to 10,00 runs, being 9378. He had attained this outstanding level at an average of 36.92, in 334 ODIs. His career best ODI performance was definitely the dazzling 153* , hit against the subdued Zimbabwe at the Barabati Stadium in Orissa">Cuttack, of Orissa, in India. on April 9, 1998 ( a 50-overs match).

Muhammad Azharuddin tasted the pinnacle of prosperity on the pro-India home pitches. He was an excellent fielder, especially when it came to slip fielding and catch grasping, with tremendous readiness.

Muhammad Azharuddin was always determined to leave an indelible impression, in his final Test match. His last Test innings, was mind-blowing, producing a radiant example of a century.

He at present, busy in maintaining his initiative, the gym called Est in his hometown, Hyderabad .

Muhammad Azharuddin is also engaged in Real Estate & Software business in Dubai, Mumbai,Hyderabad,Bangalore,Goa,Delhi & Chennai.

A superb batsman , such as Muhammad Azharuddin, had exemplified with his feats, the immensity of contributions that a quality batsman, can provide to his team.
