Quite a handful of tribal communities throng the region of Bihar, amongst them the anthropologists have duly mentioned the name of the Kisan tribes due too their rich heritage of culture , tradition and ethnicity.
It is need less to mention that following the footsteps of most of the tribal communities of the whole of the Indian subcontinent, these Kisan tribe too have adapted to the professions of cultivation. In fact if one considers the etymological meaning of the word, Kisan it also signifies someone who does the work of cultivation. There are quite a few Kisan tribes who also have excelled in the profession of food gathering.
As far as the language is concerned, these Kisan tribes speak in the special dialect of the same name. Other languages of India, namely, Oriya, Hindi and English are also prevalent.
What is interesting to note is that these Kisan tribes shared a good rapport with other tribes, namely, Oram, Gond etc who live in close proximity. Even there are few anthropologists who also opined that Kisan tribes have originated from the lineage of Orean tribal community. Cultural exuberance of these Kisan tribes is nicely being highlighted in the heritage of singing and dancing forms.
