H.D. Kumaraswamy , Former Chief Minister of Karnataka
Shri H D Kumaraswamy, CM of Karnataka is a multifaceted personality-an agriculturist, film producer and distributor..

Haradanahalli Deve Gowda Kumaraswamy is a M.L.A now and former Chief Minister of the state of Karnataka, India. Other than this he has another identity of being one of the sons of former Prime Minister of India, H. D. Deve Gowda. Among his friends and followers, he is popularly known as "KumarAnna" (Kumar, the name and anna in Kannada means elder brother). He was also a noted film producer, distributor and exhibitor in the Kannada film industry.

At his home town Holenarasipura, he owns a cinema theater. He has produced hit films like Ghalate Aliyandru, Suryavamsha, Premotsava and the recent Chandra Chakori. In 2000, his first film was released. He was elected in 2002, as the President of the Karnataka Cinema Theatre Owners Association.

H.D. KumaraswamyKumaraswamy was born on 16th December 1959. On March 13, 1986, he married Anita and he has a son, Nikhil. From Bangalore`s MES Educational Institution in Jayanagar, he finished his high school studies. From Vijaya College he completed his PUC and cleared his B. Sc. from Basavanagudi National College. In the year 1994, his formal political career began. In the year 1996 when he won the parliamentary seat from the Kanakapura (Bangalore Rural District) Lok Sabha, he came into the limelight in politics. It was the time when his father was the prime minister. In 1998, he sought re-election from Kanakapura and lost. Again in 1999, he contested for Sathanur assembly seat but remained unsuccessfull.

He toured Karnataka to revive stagnant JD-S units by injecting young blood and regrouping hundreds of broke away party cadres in the run-up to the April-May 2004 assembly elections. In 2004, he was elected to represent the Ramanagaram assembly segment.

Kumaraswamy was never conceived to be the political heir to his father. When his elder brother H. D. Revanna seized the post of Working President of Janata Dal (Secular) party Kumaraswamy started dominating him. With the help of the Bharatiya Janata Party, he engineered a renunciation in his own party, the Janata Dal (Secular). This eventually helped him to rise to a prominence in the national media.

Karnataka Governor T. N. Chaturvedi, on January 28, 2006, invited him to form the government in the state as Dharam Singh resigned earlier in the day. On the November 1st, 2006, after 50 years of Karnataka unification, Kumaraswamy commenced the Suvarna Karnataka year-long celebrations marking the Rajyotsava.
