Lying at the Purbi Singhbhum District Chhota Gobindpur is a small town of the State of Jharkhand. The village which also is located in GOVINDPUR development block, contains two ancient pillars which are locally associated with Emperor Asoka and the Afghan Chief Sher Shah.

According to the 2001 census ,Chhota Gobindpur has a population of 24,751.Males comprises of 53% of the population and females 47%.12% of the population is less than six years of age. Chhota Gobindpur has an average literacy rate of 76%, higher than the national average of 59.5% with male and female literacy at 82% and 69% respectively.
