Early Life of Jisshu Sengupta Jisshu Sengupta was born on 15th March in the year 1977. His father, Ujjwal Sengupta, was also a renowned actor in Bengali cinema while his mother, Mukta Sengupta, was a wedding planner. Jisshu also has an elder sister who was married to the lead singer from the Bengali band, Sahar, named Anindya Bose but later got divorced. Initially Jisshu began his career as a cricketer and represented Bengal in many sub junior games. However he was always inclined towards earning recognition in the Bengali film industry. Career of Jisshu Sengupta Jisshu Sengupta stepped into the entertainment world with the Bengali mega serial Mahaprabhu in which he portrayed the lead role of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. This paved his way to a dazzling career in the small screen and soon he became a popular name in the contemporary Bengali television show. He marked his cinematic debut in Bengali films in the year 1999 with the movie Priyojon. This was followed by a number of other films which gradually added to his fame. Some of the popular films in which he enacted include Debdas, Guru, Sangram, Debi, Mahaguru, Golmaal, Noukadubi, Chitrangada: The Crowning Wish, Jaatishwar and many more. He has also acted in a few Bollywood films including Anurag Basu's Barfi! Jisshu Sengupta has also bagged the opportunity of working with some of the eminent directors of India such as with Shyam Benegal in Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero, Gautam Ghose in Abar Aranye and Rituparno Ghosh in Abohoman, Shob Charitro Kalponik, The Last Lear (alongside Amitabh Bachchan) and many more. Jisshu Sengupta also owns a production company named Blue Water pictures. In the year 2011 the company produced the Bengali mega-serial Aparajito based on a male protagonist which was portrayed by Jisshu himself. In the year 2012 he anchored the music based reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa: Gane Gane Tomar Mone which was aired on Zee Bangla. The actor is also an important part of Bengal Tigers T20 team. In the 2012 Indian Celebrity Cricket League he scored half century in the match against Kerala Strikers gaining much appreciation.
