The range of Dhauladhar Range has many subsidiary ridges that fall on either side of the divide. These ridges form little secluded valleys cut through with prominent streams that flow to the Beas River and the Ravi River. Location of Indrahar Pass Indrahar Pass is located at 32 degree 17.852 minutes North to 76 degree 22.872 minutes East with the co ordinates 32 degree 17.852 minutes North 76 degree 22.872 minutes East and an altitude of 4,342 metres (14,245 ft) above mean sea level, near the tourist town of Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh. Geography of Indrahar Pass Indrahar pass forms the border between Kangra district and Chamba district. It is part of a very popular trekking route from Dharamshala. It attracts substantial tourist traffic during the trekking season between April to October. Trekking Trail of Indrahar Pass The trekking trail to Indrahar pass starts from Galu Devi Temple above Dharamkot village near Dharamsala and passes through the popular camping ground of Triund, Ilaqua/Laka Got, and Lahesh Caves. Popular Stops in Indrahar Pass The popular stops are Triund tents or rest-houses at 2842 metres and Lahesh Caves at 3475 metres. On the other side of the pass, the camping sites include Chhata caves at 3242 metres and Kuarsi village in Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh at 2260 metres. Trekking Stops in Indrahar Pass The trek in Indrahar Pass starts from McLeod Ganj, Himachal Pradesh. McLeod Ganj, Himachal Pradesh is one of the major hill stations. The Macleodganj main market (1750m) to Galu Devi Temple at Upper Dharamkot (2100m).There is a little source of drinkable water and local vendors seems selling eatables. Indrahar Pass is another trekking route from adjacent hill originally developed by local Gaddis. At Bhagsunag temple located just around the Bhagsu village, the trek route begins to the famous waterfall. The trekking path of Indrahar Pass is a bit harsh having plants of itch, on the way. A sharp steep uphill climb as directed by stone piles or limestone powder can be seen on a sunny day. |
