Siddhanth Thingalaya achieved his first success in the year 2008 by winning the inter-university title at Kochi in 110 m hurdles. Following this he won a Bronze medal at the 9th National Federation Cup Junior Athletics Championships. For a brief period of time he received training at South Africa under the Mittal Champions Trust. In March 2010, he competed at the high altitude Potchefstroom and marked a timing of 14.31 seconds. After few months Siddhanth Thingalaya bagged the Silver medal in the Asian Junior Meet held in Hanoi, Vietnam. In the event he also clocked a personal best of 13.96 seconds in 99.0 m hurdles. With this he also established a new Indian Junior record. During the 50th National Inter-State Athletics Championships, in the heats of men’s 110 m hurdles, organized in Patiala, he improved his personal best timing to 14.20 seconds. On 7th August 2010, in the finals, he clocked a time of 13.81 seconds and erased the Indian National record previously held by K. Krishna Mohan. He also won Gold medal in the competition. He marked an impressive victory with a margin of 0.65 seconds and he finished ahead of his rivals Punjab’s Amandeep Singh and Tamil Nadu’s P. Muthuswamy. This article is a stub.
