Sardara Singh is a well known name in Indian hockey
scenario. He is one of the most determined players in Indian national hockey team. He was born on July 15th 1986 in Raina.
Sardara Singh is sometimes referred as Sardar Singh. Sardar Singh is the current captain of the Indian national team and usually plays the centre half position. Sardara became the youngest player in India to captain the Indian National Hockey Team
when he led the side at the 2008 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup.
Sports Career of Sardara Singh
Sardar Singh made his debut for India in the junior team during India's 2003-2004 tour of Poland. He made his senior debut against Pakistan Hockey Team in the year 2006.
Sardar Singh also plays for his native state of Haryana
Hockey Team. Sardar Singh is a Deputy Superintendent Police Officer with the Haryana Police and he also plays for their team. Sardar Singh played for Chandigarh
Dynamos in the inaugural season of the Premier Hockey League in 2005. Sardar Singh played for Hyderabad Sultans, one of the teams in Hockey India League in the next three seasons till the year 2008. He captained in the side of Hyderabad Sultans.
His brother Didar Singh, a drag flick specialist also played for the Indian Hockey Team, Haryana Police Hockey Team and Chandigarh Dynamos, another Haryana based regional Hockey team played in Hockey India Limited.
In the year 2010, Sardara Singh was included in the 18-men International Hockey Federation All-Star team. In the same year, Sardara Singh was signed by the Belgian club, KHC Leuven to play in the Belgian Hockey League.
Following Singh's impressive showing at the 2013 Asia Cup, he was signed by the Dutch club, HC Bloemendaal as a replacement to "Teun de Nooijer".
Sardara Singh became the highest-paid marquee player at the inaugural Hockey India League auctions for the Delhi franchise. The Delhi team was been named Delhi
Waveriders. Singh captained his side to a second place finish in its inaugural season and was awarded the "Player of the Tournament". Sardara Singh was awarded the "Player of Tournament" in the year 2012 in Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, where India won the Bronze. Later, he was adjudged as the "Player of the Tournament" in the 2012 Summer Olympics Qualifiers, where India won the Gold. He was adjudged again as the "Player of the Tournament" in the 2010 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, where India won the Gold in that hockey tournament.
