Career of Mehul Kumar Mehul Kumar made his directional debut in the year 1977 with the bilingual Hindi - Gujarati flick Janam Janam Na Saathi (in Gujrati) and Phir Janam Lenge Hum (in Hindi) under the production of Tahir Hussain, Aamir Khan's father. The film garnered much success in Gujarati following which he directed a number of super hit films for the Gujarati film industry. In all he directed eighteen Gujarati flicks and most of them marked to be a super hit. His second Bollywood venture as a director was Anokha Bandhan in 1982. Subsequently he went on to direct several hit Hindi flicks starring leading Bollywood actors and actresses like Anil Kapoor, Jeetendra, Dharmendra, Feroz Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Shabana Azmi, Shatrughan Sinha and many others. His blockbuster golden jubilee hit Marte Dam Tak released in 1987 featuring Raaj Kumar, Farah and Govinda. Following its success, he directed films like Nafrat ki Aandhi and Jungbaaz. Mehul Kumar directed some of the super hit cult films in 1990s such as Tirangaa starring Nana Patekar and Raaj Kumar and Krantiveer. The latter was based on the Mumbai riots and gathered immense success. The film also won Nana Patekar a National Award for his excellent performance. His next project was ABCL's debut venture Mrityudaata which also marked the comeback film of Amitabh Bachchan after five years in 1997. The film however failed at the box office after which, in 1999, Mehul Kumar brought Amitabh Bachchan and Nana Patekar together on the silver screen through his film Kohram. In the following years he directed films like Kitne Door Kitne Paas and Jaago. Mehul Kumar's work as a producer includes movies such as Jaago, Kohram, Krantiveer and Tirangaa. In 2010 he directed the film "Kranitveer- The Revolution" which was a sequel to the award winning Krantiveer. Through the film he also introduced Jahan Bloch, his daughter, to the film industry.
