Varun Badola

The very name of Varun Badola at once takes us back to the memories of the very popular serial Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand. This superbly talented actor seen in almost all the channels of the television has made a mark in the world of tellydom. He hails from uttarkhand and was in Delhi from his childhood to his post teenage and is now permanently settled in the tinsel town. But he still believes that he is a `pahadi` by culture, nature and behavior.

He remarked in a particular interview that he is attached to the state of Uttaranchal in more ways than one. It is not only because of he holds the surname of `Badola` but mostly because his parents have given him such culture, which he is very proud of. Irrespective of the place where he puts up or where he is, he still speaks to his parents and other relatives in his mother tongue, which is `Garhwali`.Varun Badola He also has many fond memories of his native place. He still remembers that he owned a farmhouse at this place from where he used to see the stars in the sky and also used to catch multi-colored butterflies. With his friends he also used to go to mountains along with his vehicles and used to gorge on roasted chicken there. He also used to make frequent visits to the Sidhbali Mandir in Kotdwara on every Sundays.

The feeling of freedom which he used to get there is not to be found anywhere in the world. He feels very relaxed when he goes there, especially to his grandmother`s place, which is an independent and remote city. Though he never liked to study and was never a good student he was always a very good human at heart. For him his ideal is his father who is a very good theater artist and also a very good singer. He credits his father for all the knowledge that he holds in his life.

He does not have much to comment on Uttaranchali cinema. Though he never felt its presence he still claims that he needs to word hard to take the cinema of Uttaranchal on a higher platform so that people becomes aware of it and appreciates it. He has only seen one Garhwali film till date and the name of the film was `Jagwal`. He also declared in a recent interview that if he gets chance he would love to work in Uttaranchali film. He also claimed that he would consider himself fortunate enough if he gets to act in such a film. About the people of the state he always has high regards and affection. He feels that the state really needs a lot of improvement and he would take good care to see that discrimination and other sorts of evil practices are not carried out there. He only wishes that people from all over the nation would only spread love in this state.

Koshish Ek Asha was among the first ventures of this talented actor Varun Badola. Portraying the character of Neeraj in this serial needed a lot of homework but things started getting simple once the audience accepted him in this role. He accepted the role at a time when he had just 250 bucks in his pocket and not even a penny in his bank balance. It was probably his ego, which made him accept the role, which later proved to be a turning point in his career.

This role could have generated an image that he was not looking for but he was not left with many choices even. To reject the role would be loosing out on a challenge, which was not a wise idea for him so he decided to go ahead and accept the role. He did prepare himself a bit for this role and saw Tom Hanks in Forest Gump about six times, after which he felt confident enough to carry out this role. In the initial stages it was very difficult for him to portray the character of Neeraj because playing somebody totally unknown with lot of different mannerisms was very difficult and physical tiring as well. But after the ninth episode he felt a lot more at ease. He also remarked in an interview that this role gave him a lot of creative satisfaction, as portraying the character of a mentally challenged person is not at all easy.

He never thought it to be a woman dominated serial because the character in itself was so strong and became so hugely popular all across the nation. He also holds high regards for his co-stars, especially for Sandhya who is definitely a fabulous actress. The person named Uday Tikekar who played his father in this serial is also highly appreciated by him. As of his fame is concerned in this serial he is treating in a very practical way. He claims that as an actor he needs his due share of popularity, fame and money. The thought of being famous has never struck him that hard but the popularity he got from this serial is not enough for him. He wishes to keep his head on his shoulders and use his Capricorn instincts to acquire more.

In the crowd of television actors Varun Badola is jostling to make hay with his quality performance. If there is an actor on television who involves in his acting a bit of thought process then that is Varun Badola. His work in popular soaps like Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand, Rabba Ishq Na Hove, Astitva-Ek Prem Kahani, and Aek Chabbi Hain Padoss Mein speaks volumes about his immense talent in the arena of acting. In the last serial Varun plays the character of Sandeep babu who is an agonizing musician uncle of his `mohalla` or locality. His subtle performance in this soap allows the other characters in the show to shine through.

Varun BadolaThe talented actor has added another feather to his hat of success in this serial by scripting a few episodes. His background as an assistant director helped him to pen down the scripts. In this serial he also got to act with his father but it did not make him conscious or bothered at all because on the sets he shares a very professional relation with him. After the end of the shoot he might share a drink or smoke with him but on the sets it is like two professionals who are in complete sync with each other. They also discuss many things and he credits his father for the 90% of his acting skills. He likes working at his own pace and enjoys etching out the role of the characters, which in turn allows him the freedom of expression. He is one of the rare professionals of television industry who has consciously decided not to be a part of daily soaps. The reason behind this is his demand of time to relax and lead his life the way he wants. He hates to work on a deadline basis. His cameo in the seral Ghar Ek Sapna also allowed him to have his share of freedom. He felt the character was interesting and not dragging as well as sharp enough to draw the attention of the viewers. For him the most important feature that made him do this role was the economics factor.

In Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand the audiences see him portraying the character of a lover boy. Then again in Astitva-Ek Prem Kahani he enacts a completely different role. In this soap he is cast as an opportunist who marries an older woman only to ditch her, followed later and subsequently stamped his authority on the telly underbelly. But then again these roles, which required him to romance two of the hottest glam girls in tellydom, also got into some controversy. But he steered clear out of it by his superb acting skills in the following soaps.

Both the art forms like acting and directing holds an equal interest for him. According to him the art of direction gives one more freedom while the art of acting fills one with creative satisfaction and popularity. If he were given the choice he would like to try his hands in both the forms. He claims that he has two godfathers. The first among them is his father, Vishvmohan Badola who taught him the basics of acting and the other is Tigmanshu Dhulia, the person who assisted him for the last few years and who also taught him everything about filmmaking.

As the end of the day this actor mostly values the life of the people around him, then his relationships and lastly comes work. This is according to him the perfect recipe for quality living. What Varun Badola misses in his looks, he makes it up by his brilliant acting. This brilliant actor has also made a mark on the silver screen. His flawless performance in the Bollywood movies Haasil and Charas has also won him rare reviews. In the film Main Meri Patni aur Woh also he did a cameo in which his character was of the best friend of the hero. He was portrayed here as a happy go lucky character. In spite of immense success this actor has not let it go over his head and remains unnervingly modest. He claims that God has been kind to him throughout. His fans would also be surprised by the fact that this great actor, writer and assistant director had actually started his career as a costume coordinator. After his first break in `Koshish Ek Asha` he never had to look back. He also appeared in the celebrity dance show named Nach Baliye 2 with his wife Rajeshwari and was one of the semi-finalists. He has also been a constant participant of the Star Parivar Awards and has performed very well in them too. He also won the Best Actor Award once for his performance in `Astitve-Ek Prem Kahani`.

The actor in his personal life is also extremely delighted. He had tied the knot with singer-actress Rajeshwari Sachdev. Interestingly enough there is another girl in the life of this actor these days. Her name is Hasina and she is just seven years old. Varun has adopted this girl as part of the initiative taken by Crayons. He is very excited about his newly adopted daughter and claims as a proud father, " She is a darling and always tops her class regularly. I was pretty bad in school, so it feels good when you help someone do well in studies. She is like my daughter and like any father I am proud of her". This man of substance is gifted with loads of versatility and has endeared himself to millions of fans both in India and abroad. His fans sincerely pray that this actor would scale great heights of success in future by his powerhouse performances.
