One of the most popular faces of the small screen, Tina Parekh had carved out a special niche for herself by the role of the beloved `beti` in the much popular daily soap Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki under Balaji Productions. She actually hails from the city of Jaipur in the Indian state of Rajasthan but is brought up in the tinsel town. She grew up watching and enjoying the acting of famous actors Sachin Khedekar, Anand Joglekar and Sayaji Shinde.
She started her career as a model and made her entry into the small screen through some popular serials Hip Hip Hurray, Khichdi and Dollar Bahu. But the turning point of her career came with the serial `Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki`. It made her a household name and it is from this serial that she earned both name and fame. It brought her a whole new identity and people would recognize her by this name. She plays any character because it is her job. But at the end of the day it is she herself with whom she can identify.
Tina Parekh is well known in the small screen for the portrayal of both comic and serious roles with equal flair. In the very popular comedy soap Khichdi she plays the character of the daughter-in-law of the Parekh family known as Mellisa. She first enters the Parekh family pretending to be a teacher to Jacky and Chakki to get close to the family. In the other popular serial of the K-Series Kasautii Zindagii Kay she plays the character of Mukti Deshmukh who is the daughter of the driver of the famous industrialist Rishabh Bajaj and Prerna Bajaj. She always took Prerna to be her real mother and is righteous and bubbly by nature. Soon after she reaches her maturity she falls for the spoilt brat of Prerna, named Prem. After facing rejection at his hands, Mukti gets raped by Prem`s brother-in-law and the whole family fight against him to get justice. Unable to deal with her love for Prem, she leaves the town. She comes back after a span of five years at which point Prem realizes that he is in love with her but however it is too late as Mukti is killed in a car accident.
Tina again appears in this serial at a later stage as a replica of Mukti but with a different name, Devki. She also falls for Prem but leaves him at a crucial point of their relationship. But the most popular role of Tina`s lifetime is that of Shruti in `Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki`. She plays the beloved daughter of Om and Parvati Agarwal in this serial. She grows up to be the apple of everyone`s eyes. With maturity beyond her years, she is shown to be fiercely loyal to her parents so much so that even when she discovered that she is not the biological product of Om and Parvati Agarwal, she continued to love her parents in the same way that she used to. She tied the knot in this serial with Aryan Doshi much against the wishes of her parents but the marriage failed miserably. Later she gets married to Sameer Kaul and gives birth to a daughter. Tannu whom she gives to her sister-in-law Gunn out of fear of the reaction of Sameer. After the leap of 18 years she is now playing the mother to her sister`s son Pranay and still has unresolved issues towards her mother, whom she mistakenly considers to be her father`s killer but ultimately she is the one to break the tiles and reveal the innocence of her mother.
After much time in the small screen Tina Parekh is now ready to hit the silver screen with her new film Satya Bol that is directed by Sanjay Upadhyay. She had no plans prior plans to shift to the silver screen. It all happened by chance. She was called for the audition of the film and after giving audition when she heard the script she liked it and agreed to work for the movie. In this movie she is playing the character of the wife of a young police officer.
The apparent appearance of the wife of a police officer seems to be very interesting but in the real life they have to undergo a hell lot of problems. They face all sorts of difficulties, which are in turn reflected at their homes. Basically this movie of hers is all about the relationship of a husband and wife. She also claims that she is the only female character in this film and has to track to move ahead from the beginning to the end of the film. But she is not comfortable with any kind of intimate scenes on the screen. For her it is a complete `no-no` for skin shows, smooches and bikinis.
She also declares that it was very interesting to work with the new hero Manish. He was totally new before the camera while she has already faced it earlier. It was also very exciting for her to work with Sachin Khedekar because she has grown up watching his serials. She also claims that while signing for films in the future her only priority will be the script and the role. She would also look for a good director to work with, as that will give her much scope to excel in her acting skills. The idols of Tina Parekh in today`s filmdom are Kajol, Tabu and Rani Mukherjee. But at present she is happy with her presence in the small screen and will be till the spotlight of the silver screen of tinsel town beckons her. She feels happy about the fact that when celebrities surround her, people come up to her and appreciates her for her work in the popular K-soap. They come up and congratulate her for the character of Shruti who is dealing with the adversities of her life with much gusto.
At those times she feels that she has succeeded in relating to the emotions of her audiences. She also describes the character of Shruti as very close to herself and feels that the character is sketched in a very realistic way. The actress remarks in a recent interview that she had never thought that she would end up doing daily soaps in her lifetime. She was a very shy girl like anybody else in the college and started doing small advertisements simply because her friends were into it and also because it would fetch her a good amount of pocket money. She recounts that she had appeared in a lot of commercials like Rasna, Fairglow, Emirates, BSL Suitings, Hero Honda, Lux, ICICI Bank, Airtel, McDonalds and many more.
After she made a name by appearing in all the branded commercials she got an opportunity of making the debut of her acting career in serials. She is the first one in her family to get into the acting career and likes to label herself as the `Black sheep`. She also goes on to remark that she would not even reject a meaty role offered to her in the films because still now she looks at films as something closer to her dreams. She also does not underestimate the television as it was this medium that brought her into the limelight and she is also thrilled to explore more in this medium. Though she is being flooded with more offers to do serials she claims that already being a part of two dailies and one weekly it becomes impossible for her to give any time to her family. So at present she would not like to take up any more work and on concentrate with the projects that she has in her hands at the moment and get over with them. She also claims that she knows what kind of works she takes up and wants to do in her career.
So she would not like to jump into any role that is offered to her wrapped up in a good fat pay package. Instead she would like to wait for the right kind of role and even if it takes a considerable span of time she would not mind waiting. She is also very happy to work with Balaji Productions and claims that they have helped her to establish a strong footage in this industry. She is very contented with the roles that she is called upon to enact by the Balaji Telefilms because she believes that she can only meet out such kind of roles with utmost sincerity. Such a talented actress cannot be overlooked for a long time. Her sincere fans expect her to be in the silver screen in a very short span and are sure that she will make her mark in the filmdom with her acting flair just as she has done in tellydom.
