Sriganganagar a small city of Rajasthan, situated at the border of India and Pakistan.

Sriganganagar is the district headquarter of Bikaner division in northern Rajasthan. It is also called as Ganganagar.Though India and pakistan donot share a good relation, but the city is very peaceful.Sirganganagar is famous for its Sugar Mill.

History
The city is named after the Maharaja of Bikaner, Maharaja Ganga Singhji who established it. It is said that the Maharaja wanted a city based on the design of Paris to be established and hence the map of the old Ganganagar will give the glimpse of the map of Paris.

Geography
Sriganganagar is located at 29.92°N 73.88°E. It has an average elevation of 164meters. The climate of Ganganagar is very extreme. In summer the temperature goes up to 50°C, where as in winter the temperature also falls down to even 0°C.

Economy
Sriganganagar is based on agriculture. The main crops of this area are cotton, wheat and mustard. Kinnu a variant of Orange is very famous here. Desert land converted to green lush green town credited to the efforts of the Maharaja who brought the Ganga Canal which carries the access waters of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh to the region, making Ganganagar known as the "Food basket of Rajasthan". In Sriganganagar there is a famous sugar mill, which is one of the biggest sugar mill in Asia.

Government
District Magistrate is the head of the Sriganganar, who belongs an officer of Indian Administration Services. District Magistrate is responsible for the daily affairs of the city.

Transport
By Air- Nearest airports are Jaipur, Delhi and Chandigarh.

By Rail- Sriganganagar is well connected by railways.

By Road- National Highway No-15 is running from Sriganganagar to Sanchore, which is well linked with all the major areas of Sriganganagar.

Demographics
As per 2001 Census of India, Sriganganagar had a population of 210,788. Males constitute 55% and female constitute 45% of the total population. 13% of the population is coming under six year of age. The average literacy rate is 71%, which is higher than the national average of 59.5%. Male literacy rate is 76% and female literacy rate is 64%.

Culture
The principal language is Hindi and Rajasthani in Sriganganagar.

The main religious festivals are Deepavali, Holi, Gangaur, Teej, Makar Sankranti and Janmashtami.Desert festival is the main festival of entire Rajasthan. Which held in winter of every year.

Gogamedi Fair is an annual event organized in Sriganganagar district for the selling of crops, livestock and handicrafts. This festival also includes dancing and singing programmes. Local folks are considered this auspicious event a perfect time for arranging matches for eligible girls and boys.

Gogamedi fair is organized in commemoration of a hero of the region popularly known as Goga Veer (among Hindus) and Jahar Peer (among Muslims). Gogaji is popular as snake god. It is believed that chanting his name can treat snakebite.

There is a small village in the city called Anupgarh. This place is famous for the "Mazar of Laila Majnu". People believed that once a couple went there and wished something, which was fulfilled.
