
Ruby Bhatia is known to be the first veejay of the I
ndian subcontinent. She was born and brought up in a suburb in Toronto called Ajax in Ontorio, which is situated in Canada. As she grew up she also learned to excel in various fields like academies, politics, debating, the performing arts, aerobics, swimming and socio-cultural leadership. After completing her graduation in Arts with a major in Philosophy she has taken extensive training in the art of debating and public speaking from various skilled teachers over a score of years.
At the tender age of 19 she was crowned the title of `Miss India-Canada 1993` and immediately flew down to
Mumbai to pursue a prolific career in media and entertainment. Upon arrival in the `city of dreams`, this professionally trained dancer was spotted and picked up by Star TV to become a full-time anchorperson on its revolutionary music channel,
Channel [V]. Within a very short span Ruby Bhatia proved her mettle. She is regarded as the `hostess with the mostest` and traveled all across India and other parts of the globe including Hong Kong and the Middle East.

She became the new face of the generation and created waves wherever she went with her refreshingly effortless, natural and humorous approach to television. She interviewed people from all walks of life including the top-notch celebrities to the ordinary person on the street. In the year 1996 she hosted two of the most important events of India, the first being the Filmfare Awards and the second one, the world`s biggest televised event, Miss World.
Since that time this sparkling performer has done everything under the stars as far as the world of showbiz is concerned. Ruby Bhatia has not only played lead roles in daily soaps but has also been endorsing the most prestigious products in multimedia advertisements. She has also made her presence in
Bollywood chartbusters and has also lent her voice in hugely successful pop music albums. She has played host to all kinds of concerts and corporate events. She has created history in the television industry by being the first woman ever to host the three hours of live television everyday at a major international cricket tournament, that is the ICC Champions` Trophy 2002.
She is writing a weekly column for the Sunday Mid-day at present and is also the brand ambassador for Aria Finishing School. She has been a part of the K-series `saans-bahu flicks` in the character portrayal of Menka Bose in `Kasauti Zindagi Ki`. In her personal life also she is a very happy and contented individual. Giving back to society is something what she lives for. She was a founding member of The Crusade Against Tobacco, a celebrity movement propagating the ill effects of tobacco. Presently she is a trustee of CHIP (Children in Pain), which is an NGO aiming at the provision of basic education and healthcare to underprivileged women and children.
