Muttukadu is a favorite picnic spot located at the core of Chennai. The Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) has undertaken the initiative to make Mattukadu suitable for picnicking and also a hub for aquatic sports.

To enhance the admiration of the tourists towards boat riding, very recently, they have also inducted four new eight seated speedy boats. Each and every year in the month of February they organize a wind surfing facilities. Also a meeting for boat races follows afterwards. Wide-ranging competitions of water sports are organized. Special training and demonstrations are also planned mainly for the young people. Adjacent to the Muttukadu, there is an entertaining park for children. It can provide ample opportunities for the kids to enjoy jolly rides like, Karnakasi ranger, water sports, Dashing Boat, 110 feet Dizee Shake, Arrow Loop Roller Coaster .
