Mukul Dev has made his presence felt both in the small screen as well as the silver screen by his mesmerizing looks and splendid performances. He started his acting career with the serial called `Mumkin` directed by Mahest Bhatt. He got his first break in the silver screen with the film Dastaak that was again directed by Mahesh Bhatt.

In this film he was casted with Miss Universe Sushmita Sen and another talented actor Sharad Kapoor. In this movie he played a cop whose task was to save the beauty contest winner from the psychic lover. Following this was a succession of films, which came and went without a whimper. Then there were some powerful films like Qila and Wajood but all of them failed to give his acting career a great boost. Then other films like Mere Do Anmol Ratan and Iski Topi Uske Sar, which failed miserably at the box office. None of the films could help him to gain a strong footage in the film industry.

Not being able to carve out a niche for himself in his acting career he shifted his focus to television. He acted in a number of soaps and went on to establish himself in the business of anchoring as well. He was also a part of a K-series soap titled K Street Pali Hill and another reality show called Fear Factor. He declared in a recent interview that hosting the reality show was an altogether different experience because the emotions that he saw on the face of the contestants were extremely spellbinding. The expectations of the participants were also on a different level. He enjoys acting in the both the mediums but considers working in television as a comparatively stressful act.

In the future he would only act in movies if the script finds him in a challenging role. He has worked with the big shots of the film industry and claims that he has learnt a lot from them. He personally prefers to portray character with which he can relate himself as that makes his acting easier and more natural. With time he has become extremely choosy about his selection of assignments because now he always wants to make the decision on the basis of a script being a good one or not. He would also keep his professional need in mind. In the professional he is more often compared to his supermodel brother Rahul Dev. He seems to be very happy about that, as he is very fond of his brother and had always wanted him to be successful. Offscreen Mukul Dev is a person who is quite chilled out, kind and generous.

He is very fond of traveling and would have been a pilot if he would not have made his entry into the profession of acting because that is what he was before entering the glam world. His fan following expects it that he will come with a big bang in the television circuit with some meaningful roles in the near future.
