
Mahaveer Prasad was an Indian politician, member of the14th Lok Sabha. He campaigned for the 2004
Lok Sabha on the Congress ticket from Bansgaon and until his death was a Member of Parliament for Bansgaon. Mahaveer Prasad was also the Union Cabinet Minister of Small Scale Industries and Agro and Rural Industries. Mahaveer Prasad was born on 11th November 1939. He started his public and political life with active participation in Panchyati Raj Institutions and infrastructural units of democracy; demonstrated his political and administrative skills in organization and administration of these institutes.
Mahaveer Prasad was a member of the
Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from 1974 to 1977. He was elected to the 7th Lok Sabha in 1980 and to the 8th Lok Sabha in 1984. He remained the Union Deputy Minister of Railways from February 1988 to July 1989 and Minister of State for Mines and Steel in the Department of Mines from July 1989 to December 1989. Prasad served as Governor of
Haryana from 14 June 1995 to 2000. He was also the Governor of
Himachal Pradesh at the same time. He became Union Cabinet Minister of Small Scale Industries and Agro & Rural Industries on 22 May 2004

Mahaveer Prasad was continuously in the process for communal harmony and national integration. He was engaged in nurturing ancient Indian ideals and cultural heritage. He worked non-stop on eradicate illiteracy from the society. Mahaveer Prasad also advocated for the control of population explosion by way of lectures, education organized in Haryana and the rest of the country.
Mahaveer Prasad died on 29th November, 2010, at the age of 71, in Rajender Nagar, Delhi.
