Believed to be the tube`s `Queen of Manipulation`, Kunika Lal has carved out a niche for herself in the hearts of her audiences. Since her teenage this versatile actress decided to make it big in the television. But somehow at the age of 16 she challenged her parents to get her married to her Prince Charming. Soon she realized that it was a disaster and the marriage came to an end within two years. Then she took up a job in Delhi but her friends and relatives advised her to shift to Mumbai.

It was in Mumbai that she met Asrani. Soon after when she called up Manju asrani to praise her work in `Kashmakash` she offered her a role in her serial. It was from here that her acting career began and she never had to look back after this. She got her portfolio done, did some PR with letters and soon began the rounds to serial makers and film producers. Her second break also came from television when Dheeraj Kumar offered her a role in `Adalat`.

After the success of `Adalat` Kunika Lal became a known face and made her entry into filmdom. Shibu Mitra offered her a role in the film `Paanch Papi`. After that she got the lead role in the film called `Kabristan` but could not strike it big because people had started seeing her as a vamp and she was even labeled as the successor of Bindu. In spite of getting slotted into the seductress vamp bracket, Kunika went ahead and established herself as a brilliant actress. Even today she has a good crop of films `Kyon`, `Dil Chura Ke Chal diye`, `Wah Wah Ramji`, `Ma Santoshi Ma` and `Insaaf-The Justice`.

She is also performing in `Siraj-Ud-Daulah` for Doordarshan besides another show for the same channel titled `Saajan Ka Ghar` where she is supposed to enact the role of a politician. Before agreeing to any script he likes to see the people she is going to work with. She also holds the firm belief that until and unless one is happy from within one cannot do justice to a role. By God`s grace Kunika is very well established in her life now. Her second husband Vinay Lal is settled in California and is the Director of Operations of a chain of restaurants titled `Olive garden`. Although they have been divorced still they maintain a very healthy relation and alternately visit each other every six months. She is also the proud mother of a son.

Kunika Lal has not only displayed her talents in her acting career but has also been actively involved in social activities like AIDS awareness campaigns for almost 10 years. Recently she along with her business partner cum architect friend Shekhar Dadarkar has opened a chain of restaurants called `Ten-The Happy Bistro` in Goregaon, which is situated, in suburban Mumbai. She has only two dreams in her life, the first one is to be Oprah Winfrey and the other is to become a playback singer. Her fans are sure that this gifted actress will go a long way and fulfill her long-cherished dreams in the near future.
