
K.M. Binu is a Keralite born on 20th December 1980. He specialises in the 400 and 800 metres for his commendable performances he has received the Arjuna Award in 2006, the country`s highest sports award, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, in 2002 and the Arjuna Award two years earlier.
K M Binu had reached the semi-finals of the 400m at the Athens Olympics, and in the process, broke the 34-year-old record held by the legendary
Milkha Singh with his timing of 45.48 seconds. Binu had also claimed the silver medal in the 800m at the Busan Asian Games in 2002.In the Doha Asian Games in December 2006, K M Binu got won the silver medal in the 4x 400 m relay. K.M. Binu currently holds the current 400 metres national record of 45.48 s set at the 2004 Athens Olympics on 20 August 2004
