Geetika Jakhar , Indian Wrestler

Geetika Jakhar born on 18th August 1985 is an Indian wrestler who has made India proud by winning the silver medal in the 63 kg category in Doha Asian Games in 2006.Geetika comes from the family of sportsperson and is a student of CRM Jat College. Geetika was encouraged by her father to pursue a career in sports .Not only in sports Geetika is also brilliant in academics and doing her Masters in English.

She has also won the gold medal in the 63 kg weight category during the Commonwealth Championship in Canada in 2006 .She is also the winner of the silver medal in the 22nd senior Asian championship in Delhi. She has been given the title Bharat Kesri and adjudged the best wrestler besides receiving the Bhim Award by the Haryana Government .She has also been recommended for the Arjuna AwardGeetika Jakhar (wrestling), the highest national honor in sport .She also was successful in the 67 kg category of the junior Asian championship in Kazakhastan held in June 2007 and won the gold medal .

In the Rajiv Gandhi Gold Cup tournament held in New Delhi from August 16 to August 19 she became the winner amongst four hundred and fifty wrestlers from all over the country .The Chief Minister of New Delhi honored Geetika with a cash award of Rs 1 lakh and a gold cup.

The ultimate aim of this young talent is to represent the country in the Olympics.
