City of Assam - Dibrugarh The cities of Assam have rightly inherited the culture of diverse communities that have settled here over the years. Dating to more than two thousand years, all the cities of Assam saw several twists and turns in the process of its formation. Through the mountain ranges of Himalayas, the mighty Brahmaputra River passes through the heartlands, making the cities of Assam fertile and rich in flora and fauna. Dispur is capital, and also Guwahati claims equal fame and prestige. In fact it is an abode of university, schools, colleges and also some reputed cultural institutes.
