
Chennai Egmore is a railway station in the South Indian metropolis ,Chennai.The architecture of the station is a unique amalgamation of three styles of architecture namely the Moghul ,Gothic and European Rennaisance style.Situated three kilometres away from the
Chennai Central station it caters to the southern traffic of India connecting Chennai,
Kerala and southern and central India.Some trains connecting north east and eastern parts of the country also arrive and depart from this station.
The Chennai Beach -Tambaran suburban railway line also passes through this station. Initially it had meter guage track which is now being converted into the broad gauge in a phased manner.The famous Connemera Library, Museum and Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium with Astro-Turf are located near the station. The building of the railway station is well maintained and is decorated with domes. The Chennai Egmore station has ten platforms.
