Sri Narayana Jayanthi is celebrated on the Chathayam asterism of the Malayalam month of Chingam. Sri Narayana had emphasised upon 'one caste, one religion and one god.' He had done this at a time when the society had been fragmented on the basis of casteism and economic inequality. Sri Narayana had acknowledged the Vedic religion and its fundamental principles. He however, stood against caste-based ascendancy, sectarianism and caste discrimination.
