Ambejogai , Maharashtra

Ambejogai is a popular city and a municipal council in the state of Maharashtra, which forms a part of the Indian subcontinent. According to the census of 2001 the population of Ambejogai was 69,277. The city of Ambejogai is located in the region of Marathwada region in the West Indian state of Maharashtra. This city is also regarded as the educational and cultural capital of Marathwada. During the regime of the Nizam the city of Ambejogai was known as Mominabad. The city of Ambejogai is also associated with many personalities in the freedom fighting of India and also the current politics. The freedom fighters include Swami Ramanand Tirth and Babasaheb Paranjape who fought against the razakars of Hyderabad to free Hyderabad from the reign of Nizam. The famous political personalities linked  Mukundraj Samadhi Templewith Ambejogai today are Gopinath Munde and Pramod Mahajan who were also educated in the esteemed Yogeshwari Education Society of which the pioneers were Swami Ramanand Tirth and Babasaheb Paranjape.

The main reputation of this city is built up on the establishment of several esteemed colleges and other educational institutions. The place also has a medical college, which is the first rural medical college in the largest continent of the world, Asia. The religious significance of this place is no mean. The Marathi Adhykavi Mukundraj and Sant Dasopant spent their whole lives at this place. The city of Ambejogai also has a famous Haritage Temple, which is also considered by the inhabitants as one of three and a half peeths in the state of Maharashtra and is visited by people all over the state especially those in region of Konkan. The town also has other heritage temples like Mukundraj. Kholeshwar and Dasopant.
