Ajay Gehi is one of the few good actors who have gained permanent position in the silver screen after winning the hearts of the common in the television. He became a household name after appearing as the next-door boy lover named Rahul in the popular daily titled Millie.

This immensely talented actor was born on 3rd July in Mumbai and brought up in the same city. His grand dad lived in Karachi before the partition. He belongs to a Sindhi family in the small community of Gehi who actually speaks like the Punjabis and not in the typical Sindhi language. He completed his studies from HR College. He then was into a job of selling computers and was on a three months stint to Dubai. But he soon got bored of that job and came back and thought it wise to pursue his career in the thing which he has the maximum amount of interest, which is acting.

As a young man he is a very serious and focused person and has his entire career planned and follows it very religiously as well. He is married to Malvika who works for an ad-agency. He knows Malvika since he was in the eighth standard. They have been seeing each other since they were in high school. They were the best of friends who after a long period of courtship decided to spend their life with each other. The thing he likes about her the most is that she is very understanding. He does not have to call or message her thousand times a day to let her know that she is special. He just walks into the house after a whole day`s work and she knows exactly what he has been through or what he is thinking and what he might need. She is not only with his to spend good times together but also enjoy the gossips about her actor husband.

Ajay Gehi claims in a recent interview that he has been into the modeling circuit from the beginning of his profession and will continue to do so in the future as well. He is also of the view that television industry today is a big name and it is no mean than the silver screen. Many film stars are opting for the small screen and are getting huge success. As far as acting is concerned Ajay Gehi has always been engaged in performing arts since school. In his school days he always used to take part in dramatics, singing and elocution competitions. When he went to college also he continued albeit on a grand scale with more audience and more applause as well in the midst of tougher competition. By the time he discovered his passion for acting, dancing and others creative arts and wanted to become a successful actor by all means.

In the initial stages he started off with modeling and his first ad was for a cold drink called Fanta. He got this ad by being selected from an audition and from there on he never had to look back and kept on being showered with assignments. In the small screen he became popular by the character of Rahul in the serial Millie, which earned him both fame and recognition. He felt that he could relate with the character in the personal life as well and thought it would be really exciting to portray such a character.

He also found lot many similarities between his reel self and real self, for instance, he is a drummer and shares a particular liking for heavy music, then he is also a next door guy who knows how to accept life the way it comes and has a point in everything. The other similarities included in portraying the flirtatious nature and sharing a passion for cars. These are all the prime factors, which made him accept the role of Rahul, and the rest is history.

In the silver also his career took off after he played the character of Guddu in the film Miya Maqbool. In this film he plays the son of Piyush who is related to the underworld. Guddu studies in a college, romances and handles the business of his father. Masoomi is the heroine who is paired opposite him in this movie.

His most memorable moment in the film was when while carrying on a particular shot he was injured severely but without even bothering to cure the wounds he carried on the scene, not even taking a single break. This also proves the dedication and the level of sincerity of this talented actor. This film was indeed a good break for him and also gave him the opportunity to work with biggies like Irfan Khan, Tabbu, Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri and Pankaj Kapur. It was indeed a unique and memorable experience for him to work with such experienced individuals from the Indian film industry. He had worked with the director of this film, Vishal Bhardwaj before so it was not much of a hassle for him to handle.

A few years back he had a work experience with the director in a television daily called Gubbare. It was this time also he called him up and asked Ajay to see him after a hair cut. After this also his look and hair did not please the director. Then Ajay tried some gel on his hair and appeared in front of him. He instantly agreed and signed him for this film. He has also signed a film each with Sudhakar Bokade and Sunil Bijlani. Both of them are going to be released soon. He would surely accept offers if any serial come up with good roles. But in the recent times he is diverting his full attention in films and trying wholeheartedly in making a niche for himself in Bollywood.

His preference for films lies in the fact that he gets a lot of time to work on his character before he actually hits the shooting floor. He would want to make a mark by doing roles like Charles Theron in the movie Monster and also like to portray the character of Russell Crow in the chartbuster Beautiful Mind. This popular television actor believes in the simple funda of chasing dreams before the dreams chase him. In the times to come his fans expect that he will display his talents on a greater scale and please the old and the young alike.
