Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals are a team from Rajasthan with their base at Jaipur. The Team is the winner of 2008 season of IPL.

 Rajasthan Royals logo Rajasthan Royals is a Rajasthan based franchisee in the indian Premier League situated in the city of Jaipur. This team was formerly coached and captained by Shane Warne. However, Rahul Dravid is the newly appointed Captain of the team. The team were the champions of the inaugural version of IPL held in the year 2008.

In 2010, for a brief violation of the agreement the team was terminated from the league by the Board of Control for Cricket in India or BCCI but was allowed a place in the league soon the case was lost by the apex board in the Supreme Court. The team does all the practise sessions and plays their home matches at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur Sardar Patel Gujarat Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Rajasthan Royals is the franchisee which is owned by Manoj Badale, who is also the chairman. Some of the other people who have also invested are Suresh Chellaram, Ryan Tkalcevic, Sir Aditya S. Chellaram. The group bought the franchisee for $67 millions, the cheapest team in the IPL, and also the least fancied team in the league at the beginning of the league. Bollywood diva Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra also has an 11.7 % stake which the couple bought for US $ 15.4 millions.

Team Name and Logo
The mascot of the team is the lion named Ryan Tkalcevic and "Halla Bol" is the team anthem which is sung by Ila Arun. The name `Rajasthan Royals` is inspired by the princely states of Rajasthan and Gujarat. This is the only team that has two stadiums, Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur as well as Sardar Patel Gujarat Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Rajasthan Royals did not have a designated icon player, which saved a lot of cap space for the franchise. The franchise did get penalized by the IPL committee for failing to meet the minimum bidding criteria. The highest bid by Rajasthan Royals was for the Indian middle order batsman Mohammad Kaif. Shane Warne was named the coach and the captain. However he no more plays for the team now. The Royals were unique initially as they were the only side to have an English cricketer in their squad, Hampshire`s all rounder Dimitri Mascarenhas. In 2009 Season the team excluded six Indian players from the previous year`s squad and signed some of the new domestic players.
