History of BCCI Corporate Trophy The main idea that actually went into the inception of the BCCI Corporate Trophy was to promote the limited version of the game. It was thought that BCCI Corporate Trophy would enhance longer existence of the 50 over game. The primary aim, was however to take care of the employment opportunity for the domestic cricketers. So the BCCI invited 12 corporate teams to take part in the championship and invest in a major way where top cricketers from India would be present. It was decided that the winner of the tournament would win one crore rupees and the runners up will receive fifty lakh rupees. However the board did not want another IPL so foreign players were not involved. The tournaments generally have players from various states. The inaugural version of the championship was won by the Air India Red. They defeated the Air India Blue by 93 in the finals of inaugural edition.
