M.K. Azhagiri, Minister Of Chemicals And Fertilizers
M.K. Azhagiri, elder son of Karunanidhi, is an Indian political leader and a Cabinet minister.

Muthuvel Karunanidhi Azhagiri is the elder son of Karunanidhi who is the head of Dravida Munnetra Kazagham (D.M.K). M.K. Azhagiri is a reputed Indian politician and a cabinet minister. On the 1st of June 2009, M.K. Azhagiri assumed the charge of the Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers.

Born on 30th January in the year 1950, M.K. Azhagiri completed his graduation and was a bank employee. He is the son of Karunanidhi from his second wife Mrs.Dayalu Ammal. He was given a ticket to contest the Lok Sabha polls from Madurai constituency by the DMK high command. At present he in charge of ten constituencies. He had always been ambitious for eventual accession of the post of President.

M.K. Azhagiri continues the rich tradition of the Karunanidhi family and runs his autocratic rule in Madurai. He tolerates no opposition and lives within his own band of associates. Till the 15th Lok Sabha election M.K. Azhagiri held no party or government post. M.K. Azhagiri has hit the parliament with a seat for himself in his first electoral partaking with a huge win over other rivals. He was made the Union Minister in the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers.

Azhagiri’s dream has been to succeed his father as the DMK chief. He is in charge of the Madurai edition of Murasoli, a Tamil daily and the south zone organising secretary of DMK.
