M.K. Azhagiri or M. K. Alagiri, is the elder son of Karunanidhi and an Indian politician, who is the Cabinet Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers

M.K. Azhagiri, Minister of Chemicals and FertilizersM. K. Azhagiri, also known as M. K. Alagiri, is an Indian politician and a Cabinet Minister. On the 1st of June 2009, He assumed the charge of the Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers. Muthuvel Karunanidhi Azhagiri is the elder son of M Karunanidhi and his second wife Dayaalu Ammal who is the head of Dravida Munnetra Kazagham (D.M.K).

Born on 30th January in the year 1950, M.K. Azhagiri completed his graduation and was employed as a bank employee in the initial years.

Political Career of M. K. Azhagiri
Initially Azhagiri was the organising Secretary, DMK South Zone. M. K. Azhagiri was given a ticket to contest the Lok Sabha polls from Madurai constituency. At present he is in charge of ten constituencies. He had always been ambitious for eventual accession of the post of President. Azhagiri continues the rich tradition of the Karunanidhi family and runs his autocratic rule in Madurai. Till the 15th Lok Sabha election, M.K. Azhagiri held no party or government post.

M.K. Azhagiri has hit the parliament with a seat for himself in his first electoral partaking with a huge win over other rivals. He was made the Union Minister in the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers.
