Later, pea-sized pills of this mixture needs to be prepared with care. If two of these pills are taken along with cold water every evening and two pills a little while before the anticipated attack of fever, bouts will definitely lessen in intensity and will cease after a few days. On the other hand, if a healthy person takes one of these pills each morning, he is sure to be protected from common fever attacks.

  • As an alternative, 60 grams of tulsi leaves and ten grams each of the bark of datura roots and the bark of mandar roots can be ground and rolled into pills. Taken three to four times at intervals of one or two hours before the attack of fever, the fevers known as kampajwar and vatajwar, as well as other fevers, can be authentically treated.

  • In utilising tulsi in treatment of common fever, one can mash leaves of the plant and those of the dark drumstick tree to a fine powder. This powder taken with lukewarm water cures typhoid fever. In case of mild fever, a well-ground mixture of 5 grams of tulsi leaves, ten black raisins, ten grams of black pepper and two grams of mint leaves taken with powderised crystal sugar is extremely beneficial.

  • If the common fever is accompanied by cough and difficulty in breathing, a patient is recommended to take three grams of tulsi juice and three grams of ginger juice with a teaspoonful of honey. The fever is bound to subside and phlegm removed, making breathing easier.

  • If continuous fever is incessant without any sign of remission, a paste obtained by grinding two small peeper seeds and mixing tulsi juice and honey with it, is advised to be taken. This however is required to be licked and not swallowed whole with water, while treating severe common fever.

  • Regular consumption of two grams of powdered black pepper in ten grams of tulsi juice every morning ensures full defence against all kinds of fevers.

  • A suspension obtained by crushing six leaves of tulsi and seven black pepper seeds with two teaspoonfuls of water serves as a brilliant cure for typhoid fever accompanied by a terrible upset of the stomach.

  • In ensuring fool-proof treatment of common fever, a patient is recommended to boil five grams of dry tulsi leaves, two grams of ginger and two grams of black pepper with water. Later, this mixture needs to be added with milk and sugar. The decoction testifies as an antidote for common fevers and chest pains caused by cringing muscles.

  • Application of the juice of the leaves of Van Tulsi on every nail of both hands and the feet is much efficacious against lowering of the pulse rate (sheetang) caused by particular fevers such as typhoid.

  • Mild common fevers are recommended to be treated by administering the juices of Shyam Tulsi, Van Tulsi and mint for three to seven days.


  • However, besides these above mentioned, partly allopathic and strictly chemical and partly home-made and as such, much more natural, there also visibly exists other treatments of common fever, known to the Indian society at large. As such, treatment of common fever in ayurveda, treatment of common fever by homeopathy and treatment of common fever by home remedy, has always called for and demanded the most of attention and interest, more so in the burgeoning health-conscious and upscale middle class Indian scenario, striving for the best. And common fever being presently the most common and everyday happening due to vacillating weather changes, one is more susceptible cough and cold and a runny nose, accompanied by severe headache and joint ache.
