History of Numerology
History of Numerology entails the gradual progression of this practice since its birth in ancient era.

The history of Numerology dates back to approximately 10,000 years. According to the history of Numerology, in early era Numerology was practiced in China, Japan, India and Egypt long before it gained prominence in Greece though there is some confusion among the scholars about the origination of Numerology. According to some intellectuals, it originated in Egypt, while others claim that it originated in Babylon. The birth of modern numerology, however, is said to be the reinvigoration of the famous Greek philosopher, Pythagoras who said that "The world is built upon the power of numbers". The principle of Numerology says that the entire universe could be expressed through numbers.

As per the practitioners of Numerology, it is the Science of Numbers. The etymology of Numerology states that it is derived from Latin word "numerus," which implies `number`, and the Greek word "logos," that connotes `word, thought, and expression`. The study and practice of Numerology influences every aspect of life as it foretells the outline of one`s future by unveiling the deeper nature and potentiality of a person and other prospects of life. Numerology predicts human destiny in addition to an in-depth understanding of planetary attributes, including the mythology of the planets, their presiding deities, their movements in the sky and the suggested pujas to work favorably with planetary energies.

In Indian Vedic Numerology, numbers are used as a key to understand human behaviour and are an easy way to learn the method that exercises the mind`s intuitive faculty to fathom the depths of the human personality and its subsequent destiny. The method of Numerology incorporates the linking of microcosm with the macrocosm. It has been said that Indian Vedic Numerology is based on the vibratory resonance of each number and with conscientious observation of numbers a proper respect for the accuracy and power of numbers and their energies can be developed. In accordance with the history of Numerology in India, Vedic Numerology is a sacred study as it enables one to look deeply into the wheel of karma and adjust the attitude and behaviour in the world.

The history of Numerology defines that Vedic Numerology subscribes to the belief that the soul chooses to manifest in an individual`s life expression by their birth data and the name vibration to evolve further in consciousness. The numbers define the psychological profile, the `ahamkara` (ego) and the karmic residue, in terms of the strength and weaknesses people are born with and will learn and refine through in this lifetime. The vibrational forces have a very distinct quality for each planet on human destiny. The practice of Numerology involves the number from one to nine, the seven luminaries, plus Rahu and Ketu, the nodes of the moon.

The history of Numerology evidences that though the practice has a foreign origin; it has widely been practiced in other countries considering its easy learning methods and accuracy of foretelling the destiny. In India it is practiced hugely by the `Rishis` since the time of the Vedas. Although it has been mentioned that Numerology is an accurate way of ascertaining human destiny, it also includes the involvement of `Karma` of human beings.
