The year 2005 saw 29 people receiving the prestigious Padma Bhushan Award from the Government of India. The award is ranked third amongst all the civilian awards presented in India. It was introduced in the year 1954 by the Government of India. The award is presented to those extraordinarily talented people, who have done exceptionally well in their respective fields. The Government of India actually recognises their talents and appreciates their achievements through this award. Both the Indian citizens and foreign citizens are eligible to win this award for their achievements.
