From very young age,Ram Kapoor has been entered into acting. His schooling was done at Sherwood, Nainital, which has a very good acting tradition. At ninth standard, Ram started acting in a play called `Charlie`s Aunt`, which he found very interesting. Later for improvement he had gone to Delhi for practising plays in Hindi and English. To pursue his acting career, Kapoor had gone to America for further learning in Stanislovsky of Method acting for two years.

He is married to Gautami (who is also a very good actress in both the screens), whom he met at the sets of `Ghar Ek Mandir`. They have a little baby, named Sia. When Ram was asked about his experience as a father, he told," It is a mix of happiness, nervousness, fear and extreme sense of responsibility".

Ram Kapoor`s major career hit in television is `Kasam Se` of Balaji Telefilms. But his acting strength has been shown from his first serial `Nyaya`. Under Ekta Kapoor`s banner he had done two serials, named- `Kavita` and `Ghar Ek Mandir`. `Sangharsh` is also his renowned project. People loved him more in `Ghar Ek Mandir`, when Ram left that serial and another face had appeared instead of him, suddenly serial`s TRP was downed and people didn`t like to watch more.

Ram is very modest in nature, He thinks himself as average actor, but want to be versatile. As Jai Walia, he had achieved Best Actor at `Zee Telly Award`. As a pair with Prachi Desai, won, Couple of the Year for their on screen chemistry.
