Bachelors of Pharmacy ( B.pharm )

The job of the Pharmacists is to prepare, mix, compound or dispense drugs and medicines, ointments, powder, pills, tablets and injections on the prescription of a medical practitioner, dentist or veterinarian. In detail, they are concerned with production of pharmaceutical products, development of the methods or processes of production and quality control. There are over 225 programs in Pharmacy conducted by different universities in India; one of the main programs is the `Bachelor of Pharmacy`, which is a four-year comprehensive course.

Further studies after Bachelors of Pharmacy ( B.pharm ):
After the completion of B.Pharm, an individual can both pursue a course in M.Pharm (Masters in Pharmacy) and later on do PHD in Pharmacy.

Future prospects of Bachelors of Pharmacy ( B.pharm ):
The job avenues available for a pharmacist are that of:

  • Working with the pharmaceutical industry

  • Working with the government departments, universities

  • Working in the investigation and research institute

  • Within the pharmaceutical industry you might be involved in activities relating to the development, formulation, production or marketing of new drugs for clinical use.

  • Pharmacist may also take up teaching as a profession in pharmacy colleges and universities.

  • A diploma or degree holder in Pharmacy, after registering with the State Pharmacy Council, can set up and run their own pharmacy or chemists and druggists shop.


  • Eligibility for Bachelors of Pharmacy ( B.pharm ):
    Candidates who have passed 10+2 examinations with Physics, Chemistry, Maths (PCM) or Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB) or Physics, Chemistry, Maths & Biology are admitted to the 4-year bachelors program level (Bachelor of Pharmacy or B.Pharm).

    Entrance Tests for Bachelors of Pharmacy ( B.pharm ):
    Some institutions conduct their own entrance test for the admission to B.pharm courses. While some other institutions conduct state wise entrance exams `AIEEE`.
