Numerous Chess associations are working for the management of Indian Chess.

Management of Indian ChessThe structure of chess in India has gained a dash of contemporaneousness with the able introduction of the chess management apex bodies. The All India Chess Federation (AICF), an important part of the management of Indian chess, is the national body for governing and supervising all kinds of Chess related activities in India and it is being assisted by the regional associations

The management of Indian chess is based on numerous Chess associations in India at the district level, state level, regional level or in the national level. These associations for the better management of Indian chess are working to bring up new talents from the grass route level. The associations organise different Chess tournaments so that the young talented Chess players get noticed. They also conduct various kinds of workshops and training programmes to educate the young talents about the latest strategies and techniques of modern Chess. Some of the associations keep a constant eye on the budding Chess talents and nurture them by providing with sponsorships and other necessary facilities. For an effortless and structured management of Indian chess the state Chess associations organise regional Chess tournaments and the AICF organise the national Chess tournaments.

Apart from the AICF and the state Chess associations, there are also a large number of Chess clubs in India that are working for better management of Indian Chess. They are working in collaboration with the government organisations for the over all improvement of the Indian Chess scenario. Almost all the Indian states have their own Chess associations.

Some of the major Chess associations in India include the All Assam Chess Association, the All Bihar Chess Association, the All Tripura Chess Association, the All Jharkhand Chess Association, the Andaman Nicobar Chess Association, the Andhra Pradesh Chess Association, the All J&K Chess Association, the Chess Association, Kerala; the Chandigarh Chess Association, the Chess Association of Uttaranchal, the Delhi Chess Association, the Gujarat State Chess Association, the Goa State Chess Association, the H.P. State Chess Association, the Haryana Chess Association, the Mizoram Chess Association, the Meghalaya Chess Association, the Manipur Chess Association, the Madhya Kshetra Shatranj Sangh, the Maharashtra Chess Association, the Nagaland Chess Association, the Orissa State Chess Association, the Pondicherry State Chess Association, the Punjab State Chess Association, the Tamil Nadu State Chess Association, the United Karnataka Chess Association, the United Chess Association of Chhattisgarh, the UP Chess Sports Association, the All Rajputana Chess Association, the West Bengal Chess Association, the All Arunachal Pradesh Chess Association etc.

Apart from the national and state Chess associations, there are also some special units working for the management of Indian Chess. These units include the Defence Accounts Sports Control Board, the Delhi Development Authority, the Services Sports Control Board, the Petroleum Sports Control Board, the Railway Sports Promotion Board, the Ordnance Factory Sports Control Board, the LIC Sports Promotion Board, the Major Ports Sports Control Board, the All India Chess Federation for the Blind, the BSNL Sports and Cultural Board, the Air India Sports Promotion Board etc.
