The game of Basketball is being run and managed by a large number of national and state level associations in India. The Indian Basketball associations are working with an objective of spreading the game all over the country and also developing the entire condition of the game in India. Bringing up new talents from the grass route level to represent the country in various prestigious international tournaments is also another principal objective of the Indian Basketball associations. Apart from that, they are taking care of the established Basketball players by providing them with necessary facilities, as well.

The Basketball Federation of India (BFI) is the national governing body for Basketball in India and all the other Indian Basketball associations are working under its umbrella. The BFI came into existence during the middle half of the twentieth century and since then, it is working relentlessly for the well being of Basketball in India. Being the apex body for Basketball, the BFI is responsible for all kinds of Basketball related activities in India. The BFI conducts various training camps and organises several tournaments both at the state and national levels, in collaboration with the state level associations. It also provides the players with necessary facilities like coaching, training, arranging modern equipments for playing Basketball etc.
On the other hand, the state level Indian Basketball associations mainly operate within the territory of their respective states. Their main objective is to spread the game of Basketball all over the state and they always try to bring up new talented players from the grass route level. They actually try to keep the supply line of talented players to the national team, intact. In order to do so, the state level Indian Basketball associations organise training camps and tournaments in association with the BFI.
All the states of India have their respective Basketball associations and apart from them, there are some other Indian Basketball associations that are being run and managed by different Governmental organisations. The most notable state level Indian Basketball associations include the Andhra Pradesh Basketball Association, the Assam Basketball Association, the Chandigarh Basketball Association, the Chhattisgarh Basketball Association, the Delhi Basketball Association, the Goa Basketball Association, the Gujarat Basketball Association, the Haryana Basketball Association, the Himachal Pradesh Basketball Association, the J& K Basketball Association, the Jharkhand Basketball Association, the Karnataka Basketball Association, the Kerala Basketball Association, the Maharashtra Basketball Association, the Madhya Pradesh Basketball Association, the Manipur Basketball Association, the Meghalaya Basketball Association, the Mizoram Basketball Association, the Nagaland Basketball Association, the Orissa Basketball Association, the Punjab Basketball Association, the Pondicherry Basketball Association, the Rajasthan Basketball Association, the Tamil Nadu Basketball Association, the Tripura Basketball Association, the Uttar Pradesh Basketball Association, the Uttaranchal Basketball Association, the West Bengal Basketball Association, etc. The Indian Basketball associations being managed by Governmental organisations include the Railway Sports Promotion Board, the Services Sports Control Board, etc.
