Gurudwaras in India encourage the people practicing Sikhism to have communion with God.

 Harmandir Sahib in AmritsarGurudwara literally in Punjabi means the doorway to the Guru". It is a Sikh place of worship and also referred to as a "Sikh temple". The Sikh religion is spread in all over the country. This religion was founded by Guru Nanak, born in 1469. This religion was originally intended to bring together the best of the Hindu and Islamic religions. It implies certain principles of the Hindus with important modification. Gurudwaras in India have attained a prominent position. The gurudwaras are pilgrim’s paradise as well as major tourist attractions of the country.

Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar, in northern India can be regarded as one of the most eminent Gurudwaras in India. Amritsar is the holy city in India for the Sikh community and it is the abode of the Golden Temple. This is the one of the prominent shrines in the country. Sri Harmandir Sahib is also known as Sri Darbar Sahib. This place is the showcase of outstanding scenic beauty and golden coating. The Gurudwara is the showpiece of the prosperity and wealth of Punjab. Visiting the place initiates an exclusive experience.

The Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara is one of the most revered of all Sikh Shrines. It is situated at an altitude of 4,329 meters above sea level. It is located on the bank of a glacial lake Hemkund or Lok Pal. The shrine is encircled by seven snow clad peaks and their associated glaciers. According to the Holy Granth Sahib, it is believed that Guru Gobind Singh, the 10th Guru of the Sikhs had meditated on the shores of a lake. Among the Gurudwaras in India, Hemkund Sahib is the highest Gurudwara of the World.

Gurudwara Mattan Sahib, Mattan, Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir is also popular as Gurdwara Guru Nanak Dev. It is built in the memory of Guru Nanak and is situated at a distance of 60 kilometer from Srinagar. It is said that Guru Nanak Dev held a discourse with Pandit Brahm Das. Gurudwara Bangla Sahib is in New Delhi and originally it was the place which served as the Bungalow or haveli of Mirza Raja Jai Singh.

Gurudwara Nanak Jhira Sahib-Bidar is considered to be the historical shrine among the Gurudwaras in India. It is situated in Bidar, in Karnataka and is located at a short distance off one edge of the plateau on which Bidar is located. Apart from being a religious place, this Gurudwara enable the visitors sweeping views of the plains. Gurudwaras in India, as A teacher, religious guide welcome people of all religious faiths and practices.
