Chaturwidh Chikitsa suggests four types of treatment in Ayurvedic medicine. The four paths of treatment in Chaturwidh Chikitsa, include Sanshodhan Chikitsa, Snashma, Chikitsa, Ahar Chikitsa and Aachar Chikitsa. Chaturwidh Chikitsa is one of the important methods of treatment in Ayurveda. In Sanshodhana, the vitiated doshas are pushed out of the body of the patient. This method of treatment is applied on the patient who has the strength to bear this form of treatment.

In Sanshman, the aggravated doshas are usually suppressed at its place and is usually applied on low strength and softhearted patients.
